11 2.
February 10, 1975
A letter from Mr. Charles Swanson, Director, Bureau of Mediation Services
directing the Council to 'Cease and Desist' in connection with the
Police Department was read. This letter states that a petition was filed
with the Bureau of Mediation Services by Minnesota Public & Law Enforcement
Employees Union, Local No. 320, Minneapolis, Minnesota, requesting that
this employee organization be certified to represent the Lino Lakes Police
Department including all part -time employees. In view of this petition,
no further consideration of the proposed insurance can be considered. Mr.
Locher will contact Mr. Swanson for further details and scheduled time
for the hearing to be held.
Myor Bohjanen had received two letters from Northwestern Bell asking
for the proposed road work and utility improvements for the City in
order that they may schedule their work program. Mr. Jaworski will
make a list of proposed road improvements scheduled for this summer.
Mayor Bohjanen had received a letters from Mr. Robert Burman informing
the Council that Mr. John McLean had been appointed to the Anoka County
Advisory Board for the Chain of Lakes Park. No meeting date has been
set as yet.
In connection with this matter, Mr. Jaworski moved to write to Mr. Burman
asking that the decision to lease the golf course to be delayed for at
least one year. This would give the Advisory Council time to compute
cost and advise the County the best way to proceed with the operation of
that golf course. In the meantime, the County Park Board is to be asked
to continue with the operation of that golf course. Seconded by Mr.
Zelinka. Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen asked the Clerk to read a letter he had received from
Mrs. Opal Peterson, Metropolitan Representative for this area. She
asked that this Council keep her informed as to their needs and wishes.
The Council suggested that Mayor Bohjanen contact Mrs. Peterson and ask
her to sit to on the meeting with Mr. Boland on February 12th.
Mr. Zelinka presented the Council with a memo on the paying of mileage
for use of private vehicles. Since this memo is Mr. Marier's, Mr. McLean
suggested that the matter be tabled until Mr. Marier is present.
On the w: ,.ter of salaries, Mr. Jaworski noted that Mr. Volk's and the
Clerk's salaries were not covered.
Mr. Zelinka said the Personnel Commission felt that Mr. Volk's salary
was handled at the time of his employment and that there was some sort
of understanding as to the Clerk's salary. They felt this was a matter
for the Council to decide.
Mr. Jaworski asked what Mr. Backlin's salary was and the Clerk said
$910.00 per month. The $928.00 per month recommended for Mr. Volk for
1975 is just a base salary and does not take into consideration full
supervision.
1
1
1
