'J
JULY 28, 1975
Point No. 5 suggested a median be considered to divide the 45 foot access
to Lake Drive. Mr. Dave Sina, who represented Mr. Rehbein, explained this
would be a hinderance to the low -boy trucks for entrance and exit onto
Lake Drive. He felt that this could create a traffic hazard in that the
trucks would have to swing so wide in order to make the drive. Mr. Marier
moved to approve the plans, deleting Point No. 5. Seconded by Mr. McLean.
Motion carried.
Mr. Kelly Baumgart of 6133 Ware Road presented an application for a variance
to erect a garage at the front of their house. Their plans had been sketchy.
There were asked to formulate their plans and return to the August meeting.
The Clerk was asked to read a letter from Mr. Lee Starr in conjunction
with the necessary steps for revision of the Comprehensive Land Use Plan
in order to conform with the demands of the Metropolitan Council. Mr.
Marier moved to table consideration ;of this, copies of the letter to be
mailed to all Councilmen, this matter to be considered at the next
regular Council meeting. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mr. James Lowell of 866 Birch Street had applied for a Special Use
Permit to operate a bicycle repair shop at that address. Mr. Marier
moved to approve the Special Use Permit, this permit to be reviewed
annually and Mr. Lowell to be informed that one complaint on his op-
eration and the Special Use Permit would be revoked. Seconded by Mr.
Jaworski. Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen recognized Representative Neisen, who was in the audience
and asked if there was anything special he would like to say. Rep.
Neisen said he was just visiting. Mr. Tom Daniels, of Rep. Obertsar's
office was also visiting with no particular subject to discuss. Sen. Milton
had also arrived. He told the Council that he was pleased with the progress
made in the area of the sewers and that if there was any way he could assist
this Council, he would do his best.
Mayor Bohjanen said he was very pleased with Sen. Milton's presentation at
the joint meeting held on the 24th of July at the Metropolitan Council
Offices.
Mr. McLean said he had been approached by Mr. Hill with the suggestion that
the soft ball fields at Sunrise be rented on the weekends for the conduct-
ing of soft ball tournaments. He asked Mr. Hill to present his ideas to
the Council.
Mr. Hill said that since the fields are empty and un -used all weekend, it
would be a source of income for the Park Department and would allow the
teams who so desire to have diamonds to conduct the tournaments. There was
discussion on the ordinance governing the sale of beer in the Park. The
Council requested that the Attorney review the things necessary to allow
beer to be sold at such a tournament and the Clerk is to research the fees
set up for such use of the Parks. This will be discussed at the next
meeting.
Mr. Joe Hill also said that there is two teams that cannot play because of
the shortage of diamonds. He represents the Blue Heron Ball team. The
team is made up of mostly construction workers and they have offered to
construct a soft ball diamond if the City will supply the materials. Mr.
Marier moved that Mr. Hill submit a requisition for the materials.
