1
1
The regular meeting of the Lino Lakes City Council was called to order at
8:05 P.M. on September 22, 1975 by Mayor Bohjanen. Council Members present:
Jaworski, Marier, McLean and Zelinka. Absent: None. Mr. Locher was also
p resent.
The minutes of September 8, 1975 were corrected as follows:
Page 5, paragraph 6, add "Mr. Jaworski asked since the Clerk's
Office and the Mayor knew of this contract a week prior to this
date, why had no other Council members been notified of the
receipt of the contract ?"
Mr. Jaworski moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Seconded by Mr. McLean.
Motion carried.
The minutes of September 9, 1975 special meeting was deferred until the
Council meeting scheduled for October 14, 1975.
The Clerk reported on the following items:
...read a letter from Mr. Boland announcing the availability of aerial photos
of the City. The Council turned this over to the Planning and Zoning Board.
...reported receipt of retroactive charges from the Metro Waste Control in the
amount of $3,061.50 and $1,140.00 for sewage hauling for the month of August.
...read a letter from Rept. Neison stating that he plans to attend the November
10, 1975 Council Meeting for discussion of proposed legislation this Council
would like. He asked for confirmation of date and time. The Clerk was in-
structed to answer Mr. Nelson and extend the invitation for his attendance.
...reported receipt of 3rd. quarter State Aid in the amount of $16,952.75.
...Refund from the State of Minnesota for the attendance of Sal Costa to BCA
School in the amount of $1,075.00.
...Municipal Fines for the month of August were $445.50.
Mr. McLean reported on the meeting of the Park Board held on September 15, 1975.
General discussion on the condition of the wells at Sunrise Park and at the
Hall Park. Mr. Volk had talked to several well drillers and they had re-
commended replacing the wells. The Park Board had recommended either replacing
or repairing to the extent that 50 gallons per minute can be realized in order
to have enough water pressure for properly flooding the hockey rinks. He had
also been advised that the acid approach as suggested by the Council will not
solve the problem. The Park Board had asked that some action be taken within
the next 30 days.
Mr. Marier asked how deep the present wells area? Mr. McLean did not know.
Mr. Jaworski asked the capacity of the present wells when they were new.
This information was unavailable.
A Mr. Ringamen, from the audience, felt that anything over 150' is a waste
of money. Mr. McLean was asked where the 50 gallons per minute came from
and Mr. McLean said he had contacted the County and this is their recommendation.
Mr. McLean was asked the cost of new wells and said the estimates run about
$3,000.00 per well.
Mr. Zelinka suggested the possibility of installing a 5,000 gallon holding
tank to be pumped full during the day and emptied on the rinks at night.
Mr. Jaworski moved to table this until more information is available.
