OCTOBER 1, 1975
Article XXIII - The holidays were limited to 6 with only two times regular
pay. Delete Section 18.4 in its entirety.
Article XIX - There was some discussion on this insurance with Mr. Locher
saying that some of the personnel has coverage in their regular employment
and he wondered if this would not make a difference in the premium. This
point will be discussed later.
Article XX - Add the word "consecutive" after 3 and add "grandmother and
grandfather' to the list.
Article XXI - The City does this at the present time in the form of
Workmen's Compensation Insurance.
Article XXIII - Mr. McLean said the City would provide the initial issue
for the first year and then in the second year give a clothing allowance.
The figure of $85.00 per year was suggested with Mr. Bastain asking
if the Council was aware of the cost of uniforms and Mr. McLean saying
they are. Mr. Bastain felt that this was not enough to pay for the
cleaning and upkeep of the uniforms.
There was a coffee break at 9:00 P.M.
When the meeting resumed, Mr. Bastain suggested skipping Article's No. 24 &
25, consider No. 26 & 27 and return to the others later. The Council agreed.
On Article XVI - This refers to what has been the usual proceedures of the
City and merely confirms that these procedures, if not covered by this
contract, will remain in force.
Mayor Bohjanen suggested that these practices either be put in written
form for the City records or elese be included in this contract.
Article XVII - Mr. Locher felt the earliest date this contract could go
into effect was May 16, 1975 but he would advise the Council that this
Contract should become effective the date it is signed.
Mr. Bastain insisted that the effective date would be the date that
this department filed for certification. This would be February 2, 1975,
the date the "Cease and Desist Order" was issued.
Mr. McLean asked if this is a one year, two year, or three year contract.
Mr. Bastain said the law allows three years, but the untion will consider
a two year contract and prefers only a one year contract.
Mr. Jaworski asked why only one year and not three?
Mr. Bastain said they are not interested in three years in case there
should be something that has been overlooked. This would give them
an opportunity to change and correct the contract.
Mr. Jaworski asked, if this contract is to start in February, in 1975, when
does the Council negotiate for 1976? Mr. Wisenberger said, Now.
Mr. Jaworski felt that negotiations for 1977 should start sometime in
July or August in order to have the material for consideration at
budget time.
