•
STAFF ORIGINATOR:
COUNCIL MEETING DATE:
TOPIC:
ACTION REQUIRED:
BACKGROUND:
AGENDA ITEM 7G
Michael Grochala
January 27, 2003
Resolution No. 03 -12, Authorizing
Preparation of Comprehensive Sanitary
Sewer Plan and Comprehensive Water
Plan
Simple Majority
The City's Comprehensive Sanitary Sewer Plan and Comprehensive Water Plan were
prepared in 1990 and 1991, respectively. Since that time, both systems have
undergone substantial expansion and modification to service both existing and new
development. Staff is of the opinion that both plans need to be revised to more
accurately reflect existing conditions as well as identify future system needs.
The Sanitary Sewer Plan will be updated in conformance with the Metropolitan Councils
requirement for the preparation of a Tier II Sanitary Sewer Plan. The water plan will
include, in part, reconstruction of the current digital computer model to better evaluate
new modifications or expansions of the City's water system. This item was previously
requested by the City's Fire Chief.
TKDA, the City's Engineer, has submitted a proposal to prepare both plans for a cost of
$29,500 each for a total of $59,000. The project is proposed to be funded by the City's
Trunk Area and Unit Fund. The City's Trunk Area and Unit Fund was established, in
part, to cover the costs of local sanitary sewer and water system planning.
OPTIONS:
1. Return to staff for further review.
2. Adopt Resolution Number 03 -12 Authorizing Preparation of a Comprehensive
Sanitary Sewer Plan and Comprehensive Water Plan.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends approval of Resolution No. 03 -12.
ATTACHMENTS
1. Resolution No. 03 -12
