AGENDA ITEM 4A <br />STAFF ORIGINATOR: Linda Waite Smith, City Administrator <br />MEETING DATE: May 12, 2003 <br />TOPIC: Consider Resolution 03 -69 Authorizing Expenditure of <br />$8,000 from Capital Improvement Fund (401) to Pay <br />for Additional Testing of Civic Center Building <br />Envelope <br />VOTE REQUIRED: 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />In late August of 2002 we became aware of mold in the Civic Complex. In the <br />subsequent months we contracted with professionals to clean up the mold, upgrade our <br />HVAC system and assess the source of the problem. On May 7, 2003, the City Council <br />received the latest report from the Institute for Environmental Assessment (IAE). <br />According to the report, testing done to date has uncovered potential problems with the <br />building envelope and additional testing is recommended for verification. The cost of the <br />testing is estimated to be $8,000. <br />We are requesting authorization to use $8,000 from the Capital Improvement Program <br />Fund (401) to pay for additional testing to the building envelope of the Civic Complex. <br />OPTIONS: <br />1. Adopt Resolution 03 -69 Authorizing $8,000 in Expenditures from the Capital <br />Improvement Fund (401) for Additional Testing of the Civic Center Building <br />Envelope. <br />2.
