'41 June 5, 1978 by the Council to have two open building permits, the second one being for a garage. It would seem the garage is to be used as a barn. Mr. Mobley asked for Council support in his actions in this and the Council agreed to support him. Mr. Mobley also requested the Council to consult with him before is- sueing variance on matters such as this in the future. Chief Myhre presented copied of the applications submitted by the men interested in the part -time patrolman position. The Personnel Commission has interviewed the three men had recommended two to fill the positions available. However, since then, one of the men had withdrawn his application. Mr. Kirschbaum has informed Chief Myhre he expects to return to work about the 15th of the month. Chief Myhre felt that one part -time patrolman os all that is needed at this time. If Mr. Kirschbaum does not return, then the other application can be considered at that time. Chief Myhre also felt that Officer Wilbur will have to be let go sometime this year because of the new ruling on certific- ation. He does not feel that he can get the necessary time off from his present job to be able to attend the school for certification. Mr. Schneider moved to approve the employment of Mr. John Picha as a part -time patrolman. Seconded by Mr. Zelinka. Motion declared passed. Mr. McLean asled about installing a power unit on the Suburban. The general consesus was this could be done and the cost would be ap- proximately $500.00. Mr. Volk is to check this. Mayor Karth informed the Council members of a tour planned by the Metro Council to tour all the Regional Parks in the Metro Area. This tour has been scheduled for July 14, 1978, to begin around 9:00 P.M. in downtown Saint Paul. Mayor Karth plans to attend. Mr. Schneider moved to adjourn at 10:45 P.M. Seconded by Mr. Zelinka.
