66 <br />COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 27, 1992 <br />Council Member Neal moved to approve the 1993 Centennial Fire <br />District Budget as presented. Council Member Elliott seconded <br />the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Summary of 1991 Department Activity - Chief Bennett explained <br />that the Centennial Fire District prepared several objectives and <br />goals for 1991. They include: develop standard operating <br />procedures; reviewing and updating the policy manual; improve <br />planning and record keeping; establish a formal inspection of <br />area businesses; complete new fire station in Lino Lakes; report <br />fire responses to State of Minnesota in a timely manner; put new <br />rescue vehicles in service; place new tankers on order; update <br />Fire Relief bylaws. Chief Bennett explained that the policy <br />manual is ready in draft form, 60 businesses were inspected, two <br />(2) rescue vehicles were placed in service and two (2) tankers <br />are on order. In addition, work has begun on a new Centerville <br />fire station. Updating the Fire Relief bylaws has not yet been <br />done. Chief Bennett noted many other department highlights for <br />1991. <br />Mayor Reinert complimented Chief Bennett on the work of the <br />Centennial Fire Department. He noted that there are now 52 <br />trained fire fighters in the Centennial Fire District. Each of <br />the fire stations have a full compliment of trained personnel. <br />Mayor Reinert thanked Chief Bennett for coming this evening. <br />PARK AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE, DON VOLK <br />Mr. Volk presented written material and gave a brief outline of <br />how the current recreation program is working. He noted that <br />currently it is difficult to get teens involved. However, this <br />is an area that will be given special attention in 1992. <br />Mr. Volk explained that the recreation programs began in March, <br />1991. Rapid growth is expected in this department for the next <br />three (3) to five (5) years. After that time, the department <br />growth will coincide with the growth of the City. There has been <br />a great amount of positive response to the programs and very few <br />problems. He noted that both the residents of Lino Lakes and <br />non - residents pay the same fee for each program. Mr. Volk said <br />that he expected that this may change after further analysis. <br />Mr. Volk noted that the day camp facility at the Rice Creek <br />Regional Park may be used by the City as well as other facilities <br />at the regional park. <br />Mayor Reinert thanked Mr. Volk for his report. <br />PAGE 3 <br />
