1
1
December 26, 1972.
79
The P &Z also had a request from Mr. Meyers of Surburban Engineering as to the time table
for the final approval of U. S. Lakes Add. #3. The general feeling was that Mr. Meyers
had been through this process with the other plats and he should know the procedure.
The P & Z Board also did some work on the Comprehensive Zoning Plan. They agreed to watch
the agendas for the future and allow enough time at each P & Z meeting to work on this
plan. Their target date for completion is around the end of March.
Mr. Marier also reported on the Open Space meeting. This was more or less an exchange of
information between the County and the Commission. There will be another meeting on Jan.
II, 1973, Mr. Steffen will attend this meeting.
Mr. Marier asked Mr. Locher if he had studied the Minnesota Statute 398.32, sub - paragraph I.
Mr. Locher said he had and he had copies for all Council members. The law states that the
County cannot take land for parks without a Resolution from the Local government approving
the taking of the lands. Mr. Locher said the law is quite explicit. He had also checked
for any decisions in connection with this law but found none.
Mr. Locher had prepared the amendment to Ord. #43D dealing with employees. Mr. Bohjanen
suggested tabling this until the next meeting so all members have a chance to study it.
Mr. Locher also read the law concerning the sel l ing of Liquor on Sunday. Mr. Bohjanen
had some inquiries since this Sunday is New Year's Eve. The law states that no liquor
may be sold after 12:00 P. M. Mr. Locher had a copy of the law and Mr. Bohjanen asked the
Clerk to make a copy for the 49 Club, Blue Heron, V.F.W. and the Oasis and he will deliver
them before Sunday.
Mr. Marier moved to amend the Sewer Ordinance to include the hook -up fees of $500.00.
Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. CArried. Mr. Locher will prepare and arrange for publication.
There was discussion on the water meters and the installation. Mr. Marier asked if the
wire for the remote read -out unit could be installed at the time of construction thus
avoiding the necessity of going through walls that are already finished. The consensus
of the Council was that this is the way it should be done and could foresee no problem.
Mr. Cardinal suggested hiring a plumber to assist Mr. Backlin in\installing the water
meters as to have them in by the first of the year. Mr. Bohjanen asked the Clerk to have
Mr. Backlin call him tomorrow. Also to ask if the Meter Company could offer some assistance.
The Council asked Mr. Locher to amend the Water Ordinance to include the installation of
the wiring for the remote read -out unit.
Mr. Bohjanen reported on a meeting with Mr. Warren Johnson of the Youth Center. Mr. Jaworski
and Mr. Zelinka attended this meeting as did Mr. Johnson's staff. It was general discussion
on the needs of both units, the changes that may be necessary or desired. He also requested
a monthly meeting along these lines. Mr. Johneson would like a Voluntary Coordinating
Commission established, such as the one we had a few years ago.
The Clerk read a letter from Mr. Johnson commending the people in the community who take
the time to report any infractions they may notice. These things are very much apprecitated.
by the Administration at the Center.
Mr. Bohjanen reported on the truck and tanker that the Forest Lake School District has for
sale. If the bid is over $5000.00 then we must advertise for bids. We must have two bids
in writing and they must be kept on file for one year.
