February 25, 1974
Mayor Bohjanen reported that he had been informed by Chief Myhre that Mr. Gary Dold
will be resigning from the Police Department. He has been hired for duty with the
County Sheriff's Department in a full time position. Mayor Bohjanen requested that
the Personnel Commission call a meeting and have a recommendation for his replace-
ment by the next Council meeting on March 11, 1974.
Mr. Marier asked how long Mr. Dold had been with the Police Department. Chief
Myhre said, one year. Mr. McLean asked if the part time men with the Police
Department have any sort of formal training. Chief Myhre said, No, just on the job
training.
Mayor Bohjanen read a letter from Sheriff Talbot's Office commending Mr. Sal Costa
for his assistance in the apprehension and arrest of a person sought by the County.
Mayor Bohjanen presented a pasted up copy of the Information Guide. The phone
numbers have been checked and rechecked. He requested that this be sent to the
printer's and get copies made up immediately.
Mr. Marier moved to send samples to Anoka County Union, Forest Lake Times and the
Circulating Pines and ask for bids. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Motion carried.
Mr. Locher read the letter from Mr. Busch in regards to the $50,000.00.
Mr. Locher said the Council could take this to court but he would recommend that
the Council defer this action until the County Commissioners come in with an award
on the condemned lands.
Mr. Locher returned to the motion levying a fee for the storage of namable liquids.
He asked if this would include gasoline stations? The Ordinance allows the maximum
of 10,000 gallons. If the increment of $5.00 per 500 gallons is used for these
stations, the fee would be prohibitive. The intent of the fee is to make these areas
available for inspection and the Council felt that gasoline stations should not be
excluded.
Mr. Jaworski suggested a maximum fee of $25.00. Mayor Bohjanen suggested that the
fee could be based on the number of pumps, not the capacity. Mr. Jaworski felt
that the capacity was a valuable piece of information for the ,fuel coordinator.
This would inform him of where there is fuel in cases of emergency.
Mr. Jaworski moved to amend the motion to limit the fee to a maximum of $25.00.
Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Under old business, Mr. Jaworski asked if the salaries were going to be considered
at this meeting.
Mayor Bohjanen said that he would prefer to table this until Mr. Zelinka could be
present. Mr. Jaworski moved to table the discussion on salaries until the meeting
of March 11, 1974. Seconded by Mr. Marier. Motion carried.
The Clerk requested permission to be absent from the office March 5, 6 & 7, to
attend a seminar on Community Education to be held in Flint, Michigan. This is
in connection with the Advisory Board of District 12.
Mr. Jaworski moved to approve the request. Seconded by Mr. mcLean. On the roll call
vote; Mr. Jaworski, Aye; Mr. Marier, No; Mr. McLean, Aye; Mayor Bohjanen, Aye.
Motion carried.
There was discussion on requisition number 387 - the number of meters was cut 6.
