February 25, 1974
Mr. Jaworski felt this is an entirely different matter. The 1972 problem is with
Chrysler Motors and the bid is with Barnett and they cannot be considered at the
same time.
Mr. Marier said that in dealing with the seller, his products carry a company
warranty and this should be backed up. If not, then we should not deal with that
company. The 1972 car has been in the shop for repairs three times. Mr. Marier said
don't buy something you're going to have trouble with from a company who won't
stand behind their warranty.
Mr. Locher said the Council has two choices; They can refect both bids and read -
vertise or accept the next low bid with justifiable reasons.
Mr. Jaworski noted there is only $200.00 difference in the bids. He moved to accept
the bid from Midway Ford for $4,147.00. Seconded by Mayor Bohjanen. On a roll call
vote; Mr. Jaworski - Aye; Mr. Marier - Aye; Mr. McLean - Aye; Mayor Bohjanen - Aye.
Motion carried.
Mr. Jaworski moved to continue to try to get the noise out of the rear end of the
1972 Plymouth. Inform Chrysler Motors that we feel this is still under warranty
due to their delays. Seconded by Mr. McLean. Motion carried.
Mr. Charles Cape, Civil Defense Director, gave the report of the activities of the
Civil Defense for the year 1973. He also, included some of the plans for the coming
year. A copy of this report is on file in the Clerk's Office.
Mr. Marier asked Mr. Cape if they had made any plans for communications in times of
III disaster? Mr. Cape said that there is a platform on the new radio tower for their
use but an updated radio system is needed. He had considered using the business mans
channel since the CB channel is so cluttered.
Mr. Marier suggested setting up a portable communications system. He said that he
would have some one contact Mr. Cape and assist in the setting up of this system.
Mr. Locher reminded the Council of the Land Condemnations hearings to be held on
March 1, 1974. He read a list of acceptable people to be used as appraisers in the
disputed cases.
Mr. Jaworski moved to add the name of Mr. Henry Rosengren. Seconded by Mr. Marier.
Motion carried.
Mr. Marier moved to add the name of Mr. Joseph LaCasse Sr. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski.
Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen reported that he had several request for street lights on the portion
of Lilac that is designated as State Highway #49. Mr. Marier moved that we request
the State to install the necessary street light on Highway #49 West of Lake Drive,
due to the heavy traffic in and out of the Youth Center. Seconded by Mr. McLean.
Motion carried.
Mayor Bohjanen also reported that the trailer that was to be moved in by the Boy
Scouts for the collection of paper is in very poor condition and might not be moved
in at all unless a better one can be obtained. In the mean time they will designate
the City Hall as a collection point, but the papers will be loaded directly into
pickups and moved the same day as collected. The first such collection will be
Saturday, March 2, 1974.
