There was some discussion
on other institutions paying or not paying for working vacations. Mr. Houle
stated that the Board feels that they have one of the top administrators in
the State, that, she could have walked out the door and gotten $6,000 per year
more elsewhere; she has done a tremendous job in taking the hospital from a
$150,000 deficit in 1964 to putting it in the black in 1967 or 68. He noted
that Blue Cross had done a Medicare audit of the books shortly before the State
Audit and had not found a penny missing.
Mr. Cardinal raised a question on ambulance service, wondering shy a person from
Centerville who wished to go to the Forest Lake Hospital should be dispatched
an ambulance from Mercy Hospital by the Anoka County Sheriff; this driver, not
knowing the shortest way to Forest Lake had taken the long way around. There
was considerable discussion on this, with Mr. Houle noting that their ambulance
is purchasing a radio for contact with Anoka County, and Mr. Myhre stating that
Lino Lakes is considering purchasing additional crystals which will enable our
police to be in contact with the Forest Lake and White Bear Lake ambulances.
Mr. Myhre listed reasons why it is necessary that the police be in direct
contact with ambulance drivers and gave instances of problems and delayed ser-
vice when they were not. , ).-
Mr. Houle -noted that the mill rate on the hospital bond is one of the cheapest
hospital plans we could-have, that the same bonds in the pities xould have
twice the mill rate. He mentioned that it would be cheaper for the hospital
to finance the new addition with general obligation bonds rather than revenue
bonds. There was more discussion on contacting -tie oorreot ambulance. Mr
Houle will check with Forest Lake on the progress of the radio.
Mr. Rosengren asked the Council to set a limit on the money to be spent on
shaping up the pond by the Hall. Following discussion, Mr. Bohjanen.moved to
get a limit of $400 for shaping on the pond. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal.
Carried unanimously. Mr. Rosengren noted that the cost for man and machine is
about $12.00 per hour; the plastic for,the bottom was received free, however,
he is not sure there is quite enough.
A special meeting for discussion on the ad to be placed for a full -time man was
set for Thursday, July 29th at 8:3o-ink;
The police report was read as follows: 2.592.8 miles driven, 222 business and
home check, 34 complaints, 10 assists to/by other departments, 9 legal papers
served, 6 accidents, 5 acts of larceny,.4 aids given to motorists, 4 missing
persons, (4 found) 4 downed power poles attended to, .3 escapees from the Treat-
ment Center (timespent -2 hours), 2 stolen items recovered, 1 emergency message,
1 medical, 24 junk warnings given (result -51 Junkers removed), 1 dog bite, 1
stolen auto, 1 domestic, 1 burglary, 1 alarm false), 1 act of vandalism and 1
abandoned auto attended to.
Mr. Cardinal moved to pay the bills as audited with the exception of the Skelly
Oil bill since the station is not writing the license numbers of the vehicles
on the gas tickets. Also, that the Clerk write to Skelly again to do so.
Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Cardinal moved to adjourn at 11 o'clock P.M.
