Mr. Bohjanen moved to recertify the 1972 budget as follows:
General Fund
Parks & Playgrounds
Roads & Bridges
Civil Defense
Levy
$ -0-
7,115.00
61,900.00
3,300.00
Levy
Fire Protection $ 8,310.00
Debt Redemption #1 12,000.00
Debt Redemption #2 10,000.00
Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
Mr. L Allier asked the Clerk to read the letters from the Assessor in regards to
her request for a pay raise from $200 to $300 per month. She had stated that
approximately 255 new residences in the Shenandoah and Chamonix plats could be
expected over the next 2 years in addition to the regular growth of the Village;
this would increase her work load by some 35 %. The water and sewer line assess-
ment work would add work also. She spent a minimum of 1 1/2 hours in the assess-
ment of each new home and drove approximately 5 miles for each one. She had
noted too that all buildings and land must be reassessed both in 1972 and 1973.
This was discussed. .Mr. Bohjanen felt that this was only based on estimates and
wondered if we might get in trouble by granting the raise if the expected in-
crease did not materialize. Mr. Bohjanen moved to authorize the Attorney to get
an opinion on the requested raise from the Price and Wage Board by the second
meeting in January when it will be on the agenda. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski.
Carried unanimously.
The Clerk stated that it had cost about $2.18 to photocopy and staple the 66 pages
of the revised building code; she assumed that the Council would want a cover on
them also. Mr. Bohjanen moved to set the price at $2.50 for each copy of the
revised building code. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried unanimously.
After discussion of the cigarette license applications received, Mr. Cardinal
moved to grant cigarette licenses to the following applicants: VFW Post #6583,
Nathe Brother, Inc., John E. Quinlan, Henry Rosengren, Oasis, Inc., and Annie
Ross. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously. It was suggested that the
Clerk call to remind those who had not yet applied for their licenses.
Mr. Bohjanen submitted his resignation as Trustee effective Dec. 31, 1971. Mr.
L'Allier moved to accept Mr. Bohjanen's resignation. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal.
Motion carried with Mr. Bohjanen abstaining.
Mr. Locher conducted the swearing -in of Mr. Bohjanen as Mayor and Mr. Don Marier
as Trustee. Since Mr. Lundberg was not in attendance, the Clerk was advised
that she could administer his oath at any time. Congratulations were given.
Mr. Cardinal mentioned that the last paragraph of the December P&2 minutes
recommended that the Council keep Tom Van Housen as Planner for another year.
Mr. Bohjanen stated that he took it just as a recommendation and left it at that
we will look at it the first of the year.
The matter of gasoline credit cards was discussed. Mr. Myhre stated that he
would like to keep the cards issued to the police department in order to have
them when it was necessary to make trips out of town to deliver prisoners, etc.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to contact our people other than the Police Department to
pick up all credit cards and return them to the office. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier.
Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski moved to ppy the bills as audited. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren.
Carried unanimously.
