1
3/27/72
said we would need action to fix it. Mr. Cardinal moved to take the low bid,
that of Centerville Auto Body at :225.55. Seconded by Mr. Marier. Carried.
Mr. Fritchie noted that the State requires permits for the use of explosives,
and that he is licensed to give out such permits.
Mr. Fritchis noted, too that on the coming Wednesday evening, March 29th,
Centerville was having a meeting for local fire officials and other persons,
and invited the Mayor and Council to attend; them would be free refreshments.
This meeting will be at 8 P.M. in the Fire Barn. Mr. Bohjanen noted that he has
another meeting and thought we sbuld send our Fire Marshal. Mr. Fritchie was
thanked for the invitation. Mr. Bohjanen noted that we have an ordinance
regarding explosives and asked the Clerk to send a copy to Mr. Fritchie.
Mrs. Gould asked again what the Village had spent lastyear. The Clerk obtain-
ed her reports from the office and informed Mrs. Gould that the total expendi-
tures for 1971 had been `1359,951.74. The Clerk offered to give her the figure
on the receipts, but Mrs. Gould was not interested.
Mr. Cardinal stated that he had gotten a bid on a new tractor of cR7000. Mr.
Marier asked how many tractors we have; he was told two tractors and five
trucks. Mr. Marier asked how many employees we had; the Clerk said the number
averages about 25 per month. Mr. Marier wondered with two tractors and one man
who was goin ; to drive them. Mr. Jaworski noted that the Ford is going, that
it costs too much to overhaul it. He said we have overhauled the r ^ms about
3 times at a cost of 580 each time for the rams alone. He thought that the
rams are not big enough for the size of the bucket. Mr. Marier asked how much
it would cost for new rams; Mr. Jaworski didn't know.
Mr. Cardinal said the tractor bid was a John Deere, Mod. 2020, and gave other
details. Mr. Marier said that if we can show the costs on this, then he would
go along with purchase of a new one, but not just that we had repaired such
and such. Show the actual cause. Mr. Jaworski said he would get a breakdown
on what it cost to repair the Ford last year. Mr. Marier said when we get
overburdened on costs, get a new one. Mr. Cardinal said when we get the cost
of repairs, get the man -hours too.
Mrs. gwanson brought up again the use of all the man -hours on the ice rinks.
She said we are throwing away money with nothing to show for it. She told Mr.
Cardinal to look more closely at this. Mr. Cardinal agreed, but said the snow
is all gone now. Mrs. Swanson said to see what he can come up with next year.
Mr. Cardinal said he would try to get a couple more bids on tractors.
219
Mrs. Swanson noted that we are paying 6 or 7 men to work in the parks; if we
didn't have to pay 4 or 5 of them then we could take that money to buy equip-
ment. Mr. Cardinal disagreed. Mrs. Swanson noted this other village procedure
had 11 rinks and only 3 men to take care of them. Mr. Jaworski stated that it took
these men all day to do the work. Mr. Cardinal advised her to check closely
on their maintenance department. Mr. Bohjanen agreed that these would be full -
time men. Mrs. Swanson stressed that we must work it out so the money spent
is utilized next year, and so we can eliminate the time being written in on the
slips. Mr. Jaworski said we could have all of them come up here and punch the
clock.
Mr. Cardinal moved to pay bills #4404 to #4426 excluding #4422 which was void.
Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
Mr. Jaworski moved to adjourn at 11:42 p.m. Second
Minutes approved at the meeting of April 10, 197
Mr. Cardinal. Aye.
Clerk - Treas.
