J
3/27/72
on their property. It was felt that July 1st was way over their trailer
permit period. The Clerk was asked to drop a note to Dan Heimer to come to
the next Council meeting.
Mr. Backlin had obtained a quotation of (694.56 plus !160.00 installation on a
steel crib. Mr. Jaworski felt the longevity was worth the extra cost. Mrs.
Swanson that Mr. Cardinal as a member of the joint purchasing committee could
get a price on such material from the County. Mr. Bohjanen said this doesn't
pertain to this type of equipment. Mr. Jaworski suggested calling the County
to see if they have such material. Mr. Marier suggested getting a price on
cyclone fencing; we could move the compressor to another spot on the balcony.
Mr. Jaworski wondered if the wooden balcony would take the weight of the com-
pressor. Mr. Marier thought it would. Mr. Marier felt the fence would be
a lot cheaper, about s6 -700 cheaper. Mr. Jaworski said we should have Roy get
a price on a cyclone fence with a gate and a top if it is reinforced.
Mr. Marier said that on February 25th we were sent a letter on an aid program
set up by the legislative session to local police departments. We would need
a police department for more than 1 year to qualify. Mrs. Swanson said that
Mr. Bohjanen had said this was only for full -time departments. Mr. Locher said
No, but this was for a benefit association. He had talked with Mr. Myhre on
this and had gone over the form. He felt we didn't qualify. However, we can
set up a fund which can be a separate non - profit organization, or a separate
Fund for the police benefit only. Mr. Locher said he had not been authorized
to check on this. Mr. Marier felt we should wait while we investigate.
Mr. Marier noted that we had also talked at length about the snowmobile business
on Birch street. He asked if you are a renter and running a business,
aren't you as liable as the owner? Mr. Locher said Yes. Mr. Myhre said he had
gone over there and talked to the babysitter who admitted they were renting
the snowmobiles. Mr. Locher said that's the problem, the owner didn't admit it.
Mr. Marier asked Mr. Myhre if he was having a problem getting hold of these
people - we have carried this over a month. Mr. Myhre said he delivered the
letter himself to Sandra Dobryanow. Mary said he has no proof that she is
renting snowmobiles. Mr. Marier said he had the advertisement from the paper.
Mr. Locher said this would be okay if she admits it is her ad. Mr. Bohjanen
said if we can get her to admit it is her ad, Okay. Mr. Locher said we must
giver her warning in advance.
Mr. Marier gave Mr. Myhre a copy of the ad and said that if he were to call her
he could get rrices. Mr. Cardinal wondered if the snowmobiles would be
replaced by motorcycles when the snow is gone. Mr. Locher noted that she had
complained that those had no authorization to go on her property. The Clerk
noted that the former operator of the Riding Stable, George Smith, had called
her that morning to complain that a former employee of his had rented a horse
out there and wanted to know why we let her rent when she has no permit; also,
he had said that the horses were starving and there was no hay on the place,
Mr. Cardinal mentioned that the horses are getting hay, but they aren't paying
for it.
Mr. Bohjanen stated that we had gotten another letter back from the State Fire
Marshal that our fire classification would stay the same despite the mutual
aid agreement papers. He noted that we have to sit down with them again. Norm
Fritchie, Centerville Fire Chief, said we should consider what his village will
consider a risk and what they are willing to do. They have taken no further
action. Mr. Bohjanen noted that as soon as we get the clause worded right,
we will get it inserted in the contracts.
Mr. Bohjanen asked for action on the bids to fix the police car. Mr. Locher
