May 24, 1976 <br />Mr. Schneider felt that Chief Myhre should stay within the budget as a pre- requisit <br />not as an incentive. <br />Mr. McLean agreed staying within the budget is a must for amanager. Mr. McLean <br />suggested 8% the same as the other City employees. Mr. McLean so moved. Second- <br />ed by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried unanimously. <br />The Clerk questioned the starting date for this increase. Mr. McLean moved <br />the 8% be retroactive to March 15, 1976. <br />Chief Myhre felt this should be retroactive to Jan. 1, 1976 since all other <br />Police salaries were paid from that date and his salary was being withheld until <br />the matter of the contract was finalized. There was discussion on this matter. <br />Mr. McLean's motion died for lack of a second. Mr. Schneider moved that Chief <br />Myhre's salary increase be retroactive to Jan. 1, 1976. Seconded by Mr. McLean. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Chief Myhre questioned his benefits. Mr. McLean said the benefits outlined <br />are for the bargaining unit only. Mr. Karth said he is paid for h©lidays, vac- <br />ations and $25.00 or 50% of his Health and Welfare insurance premium. Chief <br />Myhre felt he should be getting the same as the other Police officers. <br />Mr. McLean said if this were the case, than all supervisors in the City would <br />receive the same amount. At the present, the department heads are paid $25.00 <br />or 50% of the insurance premiums, whichever is Tess. Chief Myhre felt this was <br />unfair, he is not working under the same ordinance as the other City employees, <br />he works under the Police Ordinance. <br />Mr. McLean said it remains that he is a department head and as such, falls in <br />the same catagory as all other department heads. Chief Myhre asked about uni- <br />forms and he was told he will be provided with uniforms as he is now. <br />Mayor Bohjanen suggested the Council start working toward an insurance program <br />that will include all City employees. Mr. McLean agreed. <br />Sgt. Costa said the department is checking into the Hennepin County program - <br />he will check and see if all City employees can be included in this program. <br />Chief Myhre said that since Mr. Wilbur's resignation, the three part -time men <br />have been picking up his hours but it is not enough. He would like to present <br />to the Personnel Commission five applicationsfor consideration and employment <br />of one of the five. <br />Mr. McLean moved to hold requisitions #676, & 677 until after July and buy these <br />things as needed now. Seconded by Mr. Karth. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. McLean moved to approve payroll checks #3526 through and including #3558. <br />Seconded by Mr. Karth. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. McLean moved to approve checks #7064 through and including #7095. Seconded <br />by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. McLean moved to adjourn at 11:40 p.M. Seconded by Mr. Karth.
