1
1
1
149
October 12, 1976
Only one bid for a Patrol Car had been received for Art Gobel Ford. Mr. Karth opened
the bid. A price of $5,823 for a 1977 Ford LTD. Since it was not known if this bid
met the specifications, Mr. Karth moved to table a decision on this until Chief Myhre
and Mr. Volk had checked the bid specs. Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried
unanimously.
The hearing for Sunset Oaks was called to order at 9:30 P.M. Mr. Roy Stanley was
present to represent the developers of this plat. Mr. Karth presented the recommend-
ations of the Rice Creek Watershed Board - which limits the number of lots to be dev-
eloped - the Planner and the Engineer. Mr. Gotwald listed the engineering data he would
need before the final hearing on this Plat. Mr. Stanley said he was aware of these
needs.
Mr. Karth moved, based on the recommendations of the Planning and Zoning Board, the
Engineer, the Planner and the Rice Creed Watershed Board, to approve the preliminary
plat. Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Locher requested a complete legal description for publication. Mr. Stanley will
get this to him. Mr. Karth moved to set the final hearing on Sunset Oaks for November
22, 1976 at 8:30 P.M. Seconded by Mr. Schneider, Motion carried unanimously.
Mr. Karth said he had received several calls on the appointment of Mr. Mobley to the
position of Deputy Assessor. These calls had been concerned with the Building Inspect-
or also being the Assessor and had felt this would put the assessment equality in jeo-
pardy in that Mr. Mobley would have an unfair advantage of also being the Building In-
spector.
Mr. Zelinka arrived at 10:00 P.M.
There was some discussion on this matter. The Council did not make a decision at this
time.
Mr. Gotwald reported the lift station is almost completed in Shenandoah and he felt
that project could be completed in a few weeks.
The Clerk reported she had been contacted by the residents of Shenandoah asking if
they could pay their SAC and get their permits now. Mr. Gotwald felt these permits
could be issued with the stipulation that the residents cannot hook into the system
until it has been approved by the Engineer and accepted by the City.
There was discussion on the inspection of the streets in the Pine Haven Plat. Mr.
Gotwald said he had not received a copy of the road grades. Mr. Zelinka moved to in-
struct the Clerk to call and to write to North NorthEast Realty for copies of the st-
reet grades to be sent to the Engineer and to call Mr. Gotwald when they are ready for
inspection. Seconded by Mr. Schneider. Motion carried with Mr. Karth abstaining.
Mr. Gotwald asked the Council for permission to do plats within the City. He said
they realize some plats could cause a conflict of interest and the firm would be care-
ful to avoid that problem.
Mr. Locher said he could see no problem as long as the firm does not do their own in-
spection. Mr. Zelinka moved to allow this practice. Seconded by Mr. Karth. Motion
carried unanimously.
