Cardinal. Carried. Mr. Jaworski arrived.
The Clerk reported that we had received two checks from the County in the amounts
of $17,092.53 and $5,358.35; also a check in the amount of $1,016.88 from the State
Corrections Department for reimbursement of policing at the Youth Center.
The Clerk read the letter from the Attorney giving the notice of setting of new
date for the hearing on Acton Construction's hearing. Mr. Bohjanen moved to reset
the hearing for Acton Construction before the P&Z on January 21 at 9:00 p.m. and
before the Council on January 26th at 9:00 p.m. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Carried.
The letter by Meyers Sign Service for a license to erect signs was read. After
discussion it was decided to table the matter since no contractor's license is
required now.
A letter from Blaine regarding the street lighting on Sunset Avenue was read. Mr.
Bohjanen stated that Blaine was :paying for one light on nur side; if we wanted
another it looks like we would have to pay for it and install it. Mr. Bohjanen
moved that Lino Lakes install one street light at the corner on Sunset at the
freeway. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Carried. Mr. Rosengren was instructed to pick
the location and see that the light was installed.
The Clerk reported that Mr. Lee Smith had requested an off-sale license for Crystal
Ahlman and his wife, Vera D. Smith, for a future building to be located on the 3.7
acre site located next to the Skelly property. However, the application blanks and
the bonds had been sent directly to the State. Mr. Smith particularly wished the
Council to approve the license now so that the signing could be done later when the
bond and insurance were in. He also questioned whether he could put up signs later
on this property on the freeway if the space were used up by others now. There was
discussion on this with Mr. Smith being told that all applications were to be
numbered from now on and processed accordingly.
There was more discussion on the issuance of an off -sale license; W. Locher stated
that he had talked with Mr. Virgil Herrick, Smith's attorney on the same. Mr.
Locher felt that the license could be issued but that the papers would have to be
submitted soon so there would be no criticism that a license was promised. The
legal description would also be necessary. W. Smith wanted everything cleared up
before he left for Europe in January; he felt that the target date for the building
would be at maximum June first.
Mr. Locher also stated that the provision in the ordinance states that the entrance
would have to be at least 1000 feet from the entrance of the church across Hwy. 49.
Mrs. Ahlman promised that this would be complied with.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to authorize the granting of an off -sale liquor license to
Crystal Ahlman and Vera D. Smith, and the authorization of the signatures for the
same with the stipulation that the applications, bonds and insurance certification
be received promptly; the license to be effective on March 2, 1970 if all stiupla-
tions are met including the legal description. Seconded by W. Rosengren. Carried.
