106
be $126,584.42. The bond, in an amount of 1 1/2 times the estimated cost, must be
furnished in the amount of $189,876.00.
The matter of park dedication in Lakes Addition #2 was discussed. This had not been III
mentioned at a Park Board meeting. The consensus of the Council was that land should
be taken rather than cash value. Mr. L'Allier noted that until the park dedication
was decided, there could be no filing of Lakes Addition #2 since neither he nor the
Clerk would sign the plat. Mr. Bohjanen felt that a good spot for a large park would
be by the creek, but not just some low spot. He thought that the dredging permit re-
quired Jandric to leave some open space in that area. Mr. Jaworski stated that he
would try to get together with the Planner by the next Council meeting for his suggestions
on where to place a park in that area. The Clerk was asked to contact Mr. Van Housen
to send a letter stating his recommendations for sites prior to the next Council meeting.
Mr. Rosengren mentioned that Mr. Juleen needed a ticket book for violations. The
Clerk will check on this.
Mr. Rosengren moved to authorize the purchase of two plastic door covers stating
"Fire Marshall" to be used on the old police car when driven by Mr. Juleen. Seconded
by Mr. Cardinal. Carried unanimously. Mr. Rosengren thought they cost about $12.50
each.
Mr. Rosengren stated that it would be necessary to get some different equipment to
handle snow in the cul -de -sacs in the Jandric development; something on the order of
a Michigan -type loader (with 4 -wheel drive) would work best. He mentioned pros and
cons of the various type trucks they have been considering. He felt that the truck
should be ordered in the summer and have it ready for fall.
Mr. Bohjanen stated that he would like to talk over the Metro Section letter with
Al Ross. He will report on it at the next meeting.
1
Mr. Al Ross commented on the Metro transit meeting and suggested some persons, including
John Jamison, who should be invited to speak at area meetings on this subject. Mr.
Ross also felt that the Ham Lake site was still in the running. Mr. Ross felt that
some change should be made in Northwestern Bell Telephone's rates for this area - -if
we are part of the Metro area, we should be charged the same rates as the core cities.
He also stated that our chain of lakes is the number one priority for the Metro park
system, but they are taking another look at the area due to the Jandric development.
Mr. L'Allier noted that he had received a call from the Planner at the Metro Council
who was concerned because we are going ahead with the development. They are re-
appraising the situation; they have no actual powers yet, but must wait for the
1971 Legislature, and then will be in force in 1972. Mr. L'Allier and Mr. Ross
agreed that the fiscal tax disparities must be straightened out.
Mr. Ross felt that the zoning laws concerning the new airport need closer defining.
Mr. L'Allier stated that we must help ourselves before Metro steps in.
Mr. Jaworski moved to pay the bills as audited. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Carried
unanimously.
Mr. Cardinal moved to adjourn at 10:44 p.m. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. All noted
aye.
1
