1
1
Mr. Jaworski moved to authorize paying of the $333.00 dues for another year's membership
in the League of Minnesota Municipalities. Seconded by Mr. L'Allier. Carried
unanimously.
W. Cardinal stated that Mr. Hill and W. Husnik of the Planning & Zoning Board were
working on revising the building code and would bring it up at the next meeting if it
was completed.
W. Cardinal inquired of Mr. Locher whether he had gotten an answer on the plumbing
code. Mr. Locher stated that he had talked with Mr. West who feels that the Orangeburg
and transite pipe are not to be used permanently underground like cast iron. The
Clerk stated that she had asked Mr. West to be at the next meeting. Mr. Locher noted
that Shoreview has altered the State Plumbing Code in its adoption; we have several
items that should be added or changed also. Mr. West will be placed on the agenda
for the August 10th meeting at 9:00 p.m.
Mr. Jaworski stated that his only item to report on was under old business.
W. Rosengren moved to have Peltier Lake Drive surveyed in the area of the lake so
that we know whether the trees which have to be removed are on Village property or
not. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Carried unanimously.
W. Rosengren stated that they were ready to start with the oil; he will talk to Mr.
Gotwald on this. He had requested that the ad on weed cutting be held up, figuring that
we could cut them ourselves; however our mower is not in working condition, but Mr.
Rosengren thought a new one would be better than having someone else do the work. Mr.
L'Ailier suggested that we advertize for the cutting anyway, with a stipulation in
the ad that we can reject any or all bids.
Mr. Jaworski inquired about the list of roads to be taken over. Mr. Rosengren stated
that Mr. Gotwald would have this next time.
Mi. Bohjanen stated that he would have some discussion on other items on the agenda.
There had been no Community & Business Development Commission meeting. He thought that
after the next building meeting we would have a better idea of when the building will
be completed and when the celebration can be set.
Mr. Bohjanen asked whether the Clyde Rehbein matter had been started. Mr. Myhre stated
that he had been unable to contact Mr. West yet to get the complaint made out.
Denny Houle asked what the status of 80th between 21st and the County Line was. Mr.
Rosengren stated that it was ours west of the bridge but that the State had designated
it as a haul road east of the bridge to the line. Mr. Houle was disgusted about the
condition of the road end the fact that a certain particular hole had not been fixed.
W. Rosengren stated that they had dug out a lot of that sinkhole, but apparently
had not gotten all the soft stuff. It will be taken care of later.
W. L'Allier presented a draft resolution concerning proposed legislation to change
the law regarding tax exempt properties and the definition thereof. He read the major
portion of the draft resolution. Mr. L'Allier then moved to draft the following
resolution and send copies to our legislators and the county commissioners, to wit:
RESOLUTION ENDORSING AMENDMENT NO. 1 ON TAX — EXEMPT PROPERTY
WHEREAS, the Village of Lino Lakes is by law almost totally dependent on the property
tax to finance municipal services; and
WHEREAS, the Village Council is acutely aware of the burden which property taxes
impose on property owners, particularly those individuals living on fixed incomes; and
