1 8 0 <br />Cecil LaMotte asked Ali. Locher if he had received a summons from the St. Paul <br />Water Dept. concerning the property line in LaMotte's Addition #2., The Village <br />had not received a summons but two of Mr. LaMotte's buyers had. Mr. Robert <br />Johnson in Anoka told him that being that the Water Dept. did not pay any taxes, <br />he had nothing to worry.about. Atty. Locher stated that the summons was to quiet <br />the title. If the Village is named in the action, they would have to defend. <br />Mr. L'Allier said the Village will be in touch with Ai. LeMotte when the summons <br />is received. <br />Mr. L'Allier mentioned that August 25th is the last day to- register for.the <br />primary election, and that the Village Hall will be open until 9:00 p.m. on <br />August 21, 24 and 25th. It was determined that 16 regulars and 4 alternates would <br />be needed. The following names had been submitted: GOP -- Phyllis Blaylock, Mary <br />Madlyn Crandall, Jean Krube, Dorthea Schmidt, Lynn Hansen, alt. Pee Winter. <br />DFL- -Agnes LaMotte, Agnes LeTendre, Joyce DuFresne, Signe Miller, Ursuline <br />Lichtscheidl, Betty Hawkins, Betty Gottwald, Lucy Tauer and Erma Grygelko. <br />Mr. Jaworski made a motion that Nis. Blaylock be contacted to supply additional <br />names for the GOP and to accept the listed names; also the County Auditor be <br />asked to supply one more name for the DFL. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. Carried, <br />unanimously. <br />The preliminary 1970 census figure for Lino Lakes population is 3,661. <br />A letter, along with ,forms, was received from the State of Minnesota` Pollution <br />Control Agency regarding the restriction of burning in the Village. Mr. Cardinal <br />made a motion that the necessary forms be filled out by the Clerk and Engineer for <br />the PGA with Mr. Gotwald to make recommendations on "no burning" at the next <br />meeting. <br />Mr. L'Allier also mentioned a letter received from Mr. Lechner, Superintendent <br />of Forest Lake area schools, stating that older students at the Lino Lakes School <br />could be assigned to a School Patrol that would be on duty at least 15 minutes <br />before school opens and again after school. They would wear official uniforms <br />and have stop signs which can be tied onto a bamboo fishing pole. <br />Akr. Bohjanen moved that the Clerk write a letter to Mr. Lechner stating this <br />proposal was acceptable and they wish to have it in effect before school starts. <br />Seconded by Mr. J'av*orski. Carried unanimously. <br />Mayor L'Allier had met with the Mayor of Circle Pines to discuss policing of the <br />area which includes Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington, and Lino Lakes. A <br />report covering the statistics will be given each councilman. Mr. L'Allier <br />said as far as he was concerned the Village might find it hard to come up with <br />$13.00 per capitia. The County said they could subsidize for a few years, <br />bringing the cost down to $6.50 per capita. According to law, our police coverage <br />will have to be revised in the near future. <br />Mayor L'Allier read a letter from the Department of Public Safety stating that <br />Charles Cape had been certified as Civil Defense Director for 1971. This is <br />based on Mr. Cape continuing to improve his professional qualifications by <br />attending training courses and siminars as required by the State Department of <br />Public Safety. <br />Ni, L'Allier moved that a letter of congratulations be sent to Mr. Cape. Seconded <br />by Mr. Jaworski. <br />
