190
Mayor Anderson stated that we were proud of our part time forces; he had not made
up his mind as to which of the proposals he preferred. He 'lotted that Circle Pines
had originally asked for a proposal several years prior, but Lino Lakes had written
the County requesting the present one. Chief Rudd of the Circle Pines force stated
that the reason the part time forces work so well is that each officer lives in the
community and takes an interest in it. He felt that a full time force of local
person would work as well, but not the County force. Mayor Anderson noted that
local officers may not be as strict with enforcing laws and writing tickets on
people they know' and live among. Mr. L'Allier corroborated this and commented that
it is difficult to tag local people and expect to get votes.
There was further discussion on use and disposal of present equipment in the light.
of accepting the Sheriff's proposal and then cancelling out later. The question
of a Sheriff's office in this area was answered by saying it was a decision among
the 4 mayors. Al Ross stated that he felt that the only.alternative was the con-
solidated plan.
After more comments it was decided to hold another meeting on the subject by the
Councils only.
Minutes approved at the meeting of October 13, 19
Clerk- Treasurer
A special meeting of the Lino Lakes Village Council was held on September 16, 1970
for the purpose of canvassing the results of the September 15 primary election.
The meeting was called to order at 9:27 p.m. by Acting Mayor Jaworski in the
absence of Mayor L'Allier who was out of town; all other members were present.
Mr. Cardinal moved to waive the requirement of prior written notice.
