He wished to know whether the
date of November 21st was okay for the opening celebration. I(r. Gotwald felt that
the building would be 100% complete in 5 to 6 weeks.
W. Bohjanen moved to set November 21st as the opening date for the new Village
Hall. He felt that the celebration could be held at no cost to the Village as
money had been coming in very well. Mr. Bohjanen stated that he still needed to
check with the Attorney on the beer permit and the necessary insurance. He
mentioned some of the interesting events which are scheduled such as helicopter
rides. Mr. L'Allier seconded the motion to set the opening date for November 21.
Carried unanimously.
Itr. Lee Smith stated that since he was involved in development of the Village,
he would like to contribute, at no cost for the Village, a bronze plaque containing
the opening date to be incorporated into the building. Mr. Gotwald suggested that
it be attached outside, under the canopy, that a spot could be left for this with
lag bolts placed through the wall. lir. Bohjanen thought this should be discussed
at the next Community & Business Development Commission meeting --they will give
)Lr. Gotwald the details.
W. Bohjanen stated that the VFW has bought the flag to be donated to the Village,
and that a larger pole with a 4 -5" base would be necessary. A 45 -50' pole will
cost about $100. There was discussion on the location of the lights which can be
installed any time.
Mr._.Rosengren reported that the road crew was working on the East County Line north
of 80th. Mr. Backlin had obtained about 1200 yards of fill free for the hauling;
the work was expected to be done in a week or two.
Mr. Rosengren stated that they were still working on 77th east of Hwy 8. Mr.
Rosengren also stated that the Village of Circle Pines had put out bids for a truck
for snowplowing. After considerable checking he had found our old truck to be
worth about $1,000. He mentioned that if we keep that truck it will need some work;
he felt that we need a new truck to handle all the work connected with our snowplowing,
whereas Circle Pines only has 2 square miles to take care of. There was discussion
on the specs for a new truck, etc.
Mr. Cardinal moved to submit a bid to Circle Pines on the 1960 Ford truck, M750
with snowplow and wing in present condition for the price of $1,000. Seconded
by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
)&r. Bohjanen moved to authorize the Engineer, the Attorney and Mr. Rosengren to
work up specifications for a 1968 truck and to write the wording for separate bids
for the truck and plow and wing within the next week and to advertize for bids as
soon as the specs are submitted by Mr. Gotwald. The bids are to be opened within
10 days after advertizing at the Hall by the Clerk and the Engineer with the results
to be brought to the next Council meeting (hopefully by the first meeting in November).
Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
After further discussion, Mr. L'Allier moved to authorize the Engineer, Attorney and
Mr. Rosengren to proceed with specifications on a 1970 truck if the 1968 truck should
be sold; these specs and bids are to be dealt with as above with the same time
intervals and dates. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried unanimously.
