Mr. L'Allier stated tbt he was glad <br />to have had a part of the planning and noted that he would like to have our <br />citizens use the Hall. <br />Uharles Cape stated that he had received two bids on the purchase of a newer <br />truck for the Civil Defense! e 1967 Rord van with 35,000 miles ;; one bid offered <br />a tradein on the old van of %150. Mr. Cape noted that the old van had cost <br />1400, which averaged out to (A25 per year for the time we had had it. Mr. Cape <br />also reported on the activities which the Civil Defense and its Aixiliary had <br />done in 1970. He showed the new first aid kit which is kept in the truck; this <br />is color -coded for quick reference. Mr. Bohjanen inquired whether the old truck <br />might be worth keeping_for any purpose. Mr. Cape stated that it was hard to get <br />parts for and it needs repair. <br />Mr. Ti'Allier stated that he couldn't say enough about our CDunits; they spend <br />lots of time in making the float which'is good for public relations; he noted that <br />when he had ridden the float in the Stillwater parade everyone had welcomed them <br />back. He commented on the certification of the Director, the fact that the group <br />is educating themselves through first aid and gun safety courses. The Auxiliary <br />members go to the Youth Center and give parties for the inmate& He noted that <br />the emergency plan for the Village would be on display at the Open House. <br />Mr. Tocher stated that another bid from a different person would be needed on a <br />comparable vehicle. Also, the title must go to the Village, not'to the CD unit, <br />since it is not a separate entity. Mr. Cape Stated that he could Arrange this. <br />Mr. Rosengren moved to authorize the purchase of a vehicle for the Civil Defense <br />based on the low bid, stipulating that another bid on a similar unit is obtained; <br />also, that the Attorney be contacted before the choice is made; also, that the <br />"ayor and the Clerk be authorized to sign the necessary papers when they Are <br />ready. Seconded by Mr.'Jaworski. Carried unanimously. <br />Mx; Jaworski moved to pay the bills as audited. Seconded by Mr. Bohjanen. ?'t <br />was noted that the check for the time clock should be charged to the Municipal <br />Building Fund since the clock is attached to the building. 'motioned carried,unam. <br />Marvin B. !+fie was sworn as,constable for a two year term. Mr, Tr'Allier <br />offered his congrptulationS. He also thanked -Mrs. Waymoville, Mrs. Kincade and Mrs. <br />Hill for providing information about Tens Billik and bringing her to the meeting. <br />Mrs. Could inquired when the matter of the Jendric sewer issue would come up <br />again; Mr. T.'Allier noted that the Engineer had been authorized to finalize the <br />plans for the treatment plant on the site. Mr. Ciotwald stated that the subject <br />probably would come up within 1 month or six weeks before the Council. There <br />was some discussion, with Mr. C•otweld noting that the Metro Sewer Board might <br />undertake the construction and operation of the plant, or might possibly build <br />the interceptor; in either case the cost would be absorbed by the seven county <br />'area. There will be notices before more hearings are held. There ere at <br />least 3 more steps, all of which will require Council consideration. <br />Mr. rotweld also noted that the lateral severing can'be done in small segments, <br />1 block'at a time of desired, so there is no worry about a large default. <br />1 <br />
