19
Mr. Bohjanen then presented the design for the Village flag which the Community and
Business Development Commission had made. There was much discussion on the lack of
color in the flag. Mr..Bohjanen moved that the Council accept the design as is,
except for the change that the circle would be a solid gold band, to submit to the
County for an estimate on the cost of production. The motion died for lack of a
second. Those of the Council not satisfied with the design were urged to bring
their own color scheme to the next meeting. Mr. Bohjanen thought that it might be
too late to have a flag to fly.
Mr. Bohjanen presented a letter from the State Highway Department stating that they
would not put the names of Lexington and Circle Pines on an exit sign off 35W;
however, they were willing to change the name of 'Lake Drive';on the sign if the
Village could agree on a new name. Mr. Bohjanen requested permission to meet with
them to see the numbering system and to request that the "]Lake Drive" sign be moved
to the intersection of 35W and Highway 8. He was told to go ahead.
Mr. Rosengren reported that Mr. Schifsky would check Ware Road to see if it was
possible to re -mix the surface and will submit a price for the job. Mr. Bob Lundgren is asking $6.00 per hour to do the
grass cutt_..g along the roads; the job is estimated to take two weeks.
Mr. Rosengren then started a discussion on the new municipal building to be placed
on the ballot at the November election. It was thought that the Assessor should
have an office in the new building; also that the minimum size would be 50' by
100'. It was decided that the Council members would bring their thoughts on size,
exterior design, etc. for the building to the next meeting.
Mr. L'Allier stated that he had talked with the Centerville Mayor regarding the pay-
ment of the fire protection fee for the second half of 1969. It seems that he did-
n't care for the idea of Lino Paying only $700 for the half and wished $1000. Mr.
Cardinal moved to authorize Mr. L'Allier to negotiate with Centerville the terms of
the second -half fire contract; if possible at the fee of $700, but if necessary
$1000, the extra $300 to be paid after the fall draw; also that the Clerk and Mayor
be authorized to sign such negotiated contract. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried.
The Clerk stated that the typing work on the voter registration cards was less than
half finished; registration itself was slow.
Mr. Jaworski moved that the Village print flyers urging persons to register to vote;
these to be distributed by the political parties. Mr. Bohjanen thought that the
parties should be asked to have the flyers printed, as they had done other places.
Mr. Jaworski will ask the parties to print such flyers, but will have it done if
they do not. Seconded by Mr. Cardinal. Motion carried with Mr. Bohjanen voting
no.
