The Park Board minutes were read. Mr. Jaworski asked Mr. Locher whether the re-
quested change in insurance limits had been inserted in the lease agreements
with the St. Paul Water Works Dept. regarding the Baldwin Lake property.
Mr. Locher will talk this over again with Mr. Segal.
Mr. Jaworski then moved that the Village take up the lease on the Baldwin Lake
property with the exceptions that a one -year cancellation clause be inserted
and the fee be $1.00 per year, that until the Council decides, the area will
not be made operational for park purposes, and that the insurance limits be as
specified. Seconded by Mr. Rosengren. Carried. Mr. Locher advised that the
road into the property was not as such a dedicated Village street and could not
be used as an access for house construction; also, that the Village had only an
obligation to maintain the street, not to improve it.
Mr. Jaworski gave details on a Jacobsen Commercial 60 tractor with a 60" mower
18 hp,_at $2150. The machine had no shift lever and operated with pedals; there
was no broom for the front end being manufactured, but a trailer could be bought to
haul it on for $550. He stated that they wanted to keep the rotary mower on the
Ford tractor for open field use, but that the rotary did not cut low enough for
the ball diamond. Also, a 14 h.p. Wheelhorse could be purchased from Luther
LeVesseur for $1400 minus a 40 per cent discount, making it about $900. Also
a 42" mower could be purchased for $165 minus the discount, thus making the total
cost about $1000. A broom could also be bough for the machine. There was con -
siderable discussion of the merits of various types of mowers from the audience
and Council. It was mentioned that a tractor might be purchased jointly by the
Roads Dept. and the. Parks Dept. Mr. Rosengren will get prices on a flailtype
mower.
Mr. Jaworski asked about proceedure on the stucco house on Hwy 8 on Tauer's
property.
