1
1
1
w,31
purchasing was 12' by 44'. The property on which the trailer is to be placed is
described as follows: The Northerly 264 feet of the W1/2 of the S 1/2 of the
W 1/2 of the SW 1/4 of the NW 1/4 of Section 32, Township 31, Range 22, Anoka
County Minnesota. The motion was seconded by Mr. Bohjanen and carried unanimously.
The hearing closed at 8:32 p.m.
Mr. L'Allier noted that no one was yet present from Naegele Sign Co. for their
hearing. Mr. Cardinal stated that no one from their organization had been present
at the P&Z hearing either. Therefore the P&Z had discussed the matter but having
no sizes for the signs or descriptions, had continued the hearing until those
specifics had been received. Mr. Bohjanen stated that the hearing could be re-
opened without special notice. Mr. Locher stated that a representative of the
company had told him that specifications for the signs had been mailed to him;
however, he had not received them. It was decided to wait until 8:45 for the
hearing.
Mr. Cardinal mentioned that the issue of plastic pipe for waste had been discussed
by the P &Z. The new revised Minn. Plumbing Code allows the use of said pipe.
Mr. Locher agreed that copies of the new Code were not yet available; apparently
we shall have to adopt the whole new code. The P&Z had recommended holding off
action until the new code is available. Our ordinance is still in effect except
where the new code is more rigid. The Clerk was instructed to contact the State
for copies of the new code for the Council and P &Z.
Mr. Cardinal stated that the P&Z had discussed briefly the underground utilities
ordinance now proposed. Mr. Gotwald had said that he would have someone to speak
on this at the September P&Z meeting. Mr. Dan Erhard from the Elk River Cooperative
handed out sheets which gave changes they would like to see in the wording of the
proposed ordinance. In Section 2 of the proposed Ord. 49, he suggested the change
in the second line of "step -down station" to read "distribution transformer"
and in the 4th line change "reduction transformer stations" to "associated dis-
tribution transformer ". Mr. Erhard proceeded to explain the various usages of
"secondary" relative to electric lines and how it can be easily confused; therefore
he wished to have the correct technological terms. In Section 3 he wished the
word "secondary" inserted between "and" and "services" in the second line.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to table the matter until the next regular meeting. Seconded
by Mr. Rosengren. Carried.
The special use permit hearing for Naegele Sign Co. was called to order at 8:47 p.m.
Mr. Terry Hughes was present to represent the firm. Mr. Locher confirmed that the
affidavits of posting and mailing were in order. He mentioned that some of the
mailed notices had been returned to him since the names on record at the Court
House are not at listed addresses. However, Hr. Locher stated that this made no
difference the notices had been mailed. Mr. L'Allier stated that since the
Planning and Zoning hearing was not complete there could be no decision tonight,
that the hearing would be continued until the regular meeting following the next
Planning and Zoning meeting on the 17th of September. Mr. Hughes had brought the
drawings of the signs; these were distributed for the members to look over.
Naegele plans to place the signs at the following locations: one, 12' by 16',
at 7th Ave. and Birch St.; one at the intersection of Birch St. and Hodgson Rd.,
and one near the Apple Inn on Hwy. 49. There will also be a large entry sign on
the U.S. Lakes Development Co. property. The signs will be lighted with fluorescent
tubes. After some further discussion, Mr. Bohjanen moved to adjourn the hearing
at 8:58 p.m. to an indefinite date, that the hearing can be recalled without the
appearance of any representatives of Naegele Sign Co., and that the Council has
final approval of which the company will be notified. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski.
Carried.
