234
Mr. L'Allier stated that he and Mr. Gotwald had met with 2 persons from the
Conservation Dept., a Mr. Platson and a Mr. Morris Eng, ground-water hydrologist.
Mr. Eng thought that there had been no damage to the bottom of the alke, but
could not guarantee that the water would return. Several site wells will be
bored, 1 -1 1/2 in., to observe the water levels. Mr. Gotwald thought that the
developer should take 2 borings at the north and south ends of the lake to see
what the depth of the hard -pan is. Mr. Jandric will follow through with the
site borings and the wells and turn the information over to the Conservation Dept.
Mr. Eng will then be in a better position to make an evaluation. Mr. Eng had
noted that the lake was fed by ground water, that 4 or 5 springs were bubbling up.
Mr. Jandric will pump from one of his wells into the lake and possibly the second
one also. Mr. Plattson had agreed to contact the, Developer on Mr. Eng's and
Mr. Gotwald's suggestions. A letter from Mr. Platoon is expected.
Mr. L'Ailier had attended another meeting with municipal officials at Lexington
on the policing problem. It was decided that they should ask for a professional
opinion, so they are requesting the State Bureau of Crime Apprehension to make a
study and set a meeting with all local officials on their opinion. It was thought].
the policing could be done at $4.00 per capita.
The question of professional training for all police officers was raised. Mr.
Locher stated that the new state law had not yet been enforced yet as to part time
men, but reads for any police officer. The law is not clear on what constitutes
this training. A "grandfather clause" would exempt any officer hired prior to
July 1967, which would exempt two of our men.
Mr. Bohjanen asked whether anything had been heard from Mr. Talbot. He was re-
ported to be in Ireland. The Clerk should contact the Sherrif's office for the
necessary figures. Mr. Rosengren stated that not all the figures were in yet for
the costs on Ware Road but it was certain that the total would not go over $2,000.00.
This was for a half -mile of 4" blacktop. Mr. Schifsky will roll the road again
if the rocks should show.
Mr. Rosengren reported that Bald Eagle Blvd. did not seeta as bad as had been
expected. He would like to put the same coating on it as on Ware Road, this would
probably cost about $4,000 for the 1 mile. Mr. Gotwald will get the price on
sulfite for dust control for next time.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to authorize Mr. Rosengren to purchase a pump and spraybar for
the tanker truck for under $400.00. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried.
Mr. Cardinal moved to authorize Mr. Rosengren to do Bald Eagle Blvd. at a cost of
approximately $4000.00. Seconded by-Mr. Bohjanen. Carried.
Mr. Rosengren reported that Mr. Lundgren had cut the weeds; time for the job was
69 hours. The cost 0 $6/hour will run about $414.00.
Mr. Cardinal moved to authorize Mr. Rosengren to purchase a 1966 1/2 ton green Ford
pickup truck, providing that any necessary work repair is done for a cost of
$1395.00. Seconded by Mr. Jaworski. Carried. Mr. Juleen will look over the
truck. Mr. Bohjanen thought it part of our regular routine to have the truck
painted orange. Mr. Rosengren would like to keep the old truck for a while to
take off some parts.
1
