Mr. Kriz
would not be a union person and starting pay would be $9.20 per
hour plus benefits. A job description will be completed. Mr.
Volk noted that Mr. Kriz is well like by all City personnel.
Chief Campbell has expressed concern regarding allowing a
contracted service into the police office because of the many
sensitive things that cannot be locked.
This matter will be placed on the May 11, 1992 agenda.
Consideration of Maternity /Parental Leave
Mr. Schumacher explained two (2) of the City employees will be
taking maternity leave soon. The present Personnel Policy is out
of date and does not conform to state statutes. The current
Personnel Policy is being updated to allow sick leave to be used
for maternity leave and up to six (6) weeks of unpaid maternity
leave upon approval of the City Administrator. He asked that the
City Council take two (2) hours and review the Personal Policy
with him.
Mayor Reinert suggested that the City Council set aside an entire
day to go over matters such as this. He also suggested that the
City Council and department heads have dinner some evening after
the moratorium is lifted.
Council Member Bergeson said that sooner or later some employee
will leave not under the best of circumstances and if all is not
in order, the City Council could face some problems.
The City Council will meet May 27 1992, 4:30 P.M. for two (2)
hours to review and update the present Personnel Policy.
Consider Cable Company Transfer
Mr. Schumacher explained that the cable company servicing Lino
Lakes and seven other northern communities has been sold to
Merideth, Inc. in Iowa. Documents are being prepared and it will be necessary for
all eight (8) municipalities to approve them.
Council Member Bergeson said his one complaint is that the cable
company is not accommodating when there are not many homes in the
area.
