1 <br />COUNCIL MEETING MAY 11, 1992 <br />staff. During the last Council work session, Mr. Volk reviewed <br />the quotations with the City Council and compared contracted <br />services with hiring a full -time janitor. The result of the <br />comparisons is a list of pros /cons of City employee vs contracted <br />services. The comparison was given to the City Council for their <br />review. <br />Mr. Volk discussed contracted services with various staff and <br />department heads. Police Chief Campbell expressed concern about <br />a contracted service and the Fire Chief Bennett expressed <br />appreciation for the present staff janitor. Many other City <br />employees have also expressed concern about the work quality we <br />may lose by contracting custodial services. <br />Mr. Volk recommended that the City Council hire the part -time <br />janitor (Mike Kriz) on a full -time basis. He noted that 25% of <br />his wages will be paid by the Centennial Fire Department. <br />Council Member Neal moved to hire Mr. Mike Kriz as a full -time <br />non -union permanent janitor. Council Member Elliott seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Robinson Golf Course - Council Member Bergeson noted that he had <br />heard that a golf course was planned for the northwest corner of <br />Lino Lakes in the rural area. He asked if a site plan review was <br />required by the City Code. It was explained that if buildings <br />were planned, a site and building plan review would be required. <br />Permits will be needed from the DNR and RCWD. Council Member <br />Bergeson asked that this matter be placed on the next Council <br />work session agenda. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to adjourn at 8:42 P.M.
