1
COUNCIL MEETING MAY 11, 1992
staff. During the last Council work session, Mr. Volk reviewed
the quotations with the City Council and compared contracted
services with hiring a full -time janitor. The result of the
comparisons is a list of pros /cons of City employee vs contracted
services. The comparison was given to the City Council for their
review.
Mr. Volk discussed contracted services with various staff and
department heads. Police Chief Campbell expressed concern about
a contracted service and the Fire Chief Bennett expressed
appreciation for the present staff janitor. Many other City
employees have also expressed concern about the work quality we
may lose by contracting custodial services.
Mr. Volk recommended that the City Council hire the part -time
janitor (Mike Kriz) on a full -time basis. He noted that 25% of
his wages will be paid by the Centennial Fire Department.
Council Member Neal moved to hire Mr. Mike Kriz as a full -time
non -union permanent janitor. Council Member Elliott seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Robinson Golf Course - Council Member Bergeson noted that he had
heard that a golf course was planned for the northwest corner of
Lino Lakes in the rural area. He asked if a site plan review was
required by the City Code. It was explained that if buildings
were planned, a site and building plan review would be required.
Permits will be needed from the DNR and RCWD. Council Member
Bergeson asked that this matter be placed on the next Council
work session agenda.
Council Member Elliott moved to adjourn at 8:42 P.M. Council
Member Bergeson seconded the motion. Aye.
These minutes were considered, corrected and approved at a
regular Council meeting held on May 26, 1992.
MarlynAG.
