20
COUNCIL MEETING MAY 11, 1992
August. A gambling license is granted for this occasion. Mrs.
Anderson noted that there has never been a problem with the
license.
Council Member Elliott moved to grant the gambling license to St.
Joseph's Catholic Church. Council Member Neal seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Consideration of Tax Forfeit Lots - Mrs. Anderson explained that
the Anoka County Land Commissioner has notified her of a number
of parcels that are in the process of going tax forfeit. Twenty
two (22) parcels are located in the Lino Air Park, one (1) parcel
is in Sunset Oaks, another parcel is located at the east end of
Oak Lane and the last parcel is 1 /17th of a lot on the west side
of Reshanau Lake.
Mrs. Anderson recommended that the City Council allow the 22
parcels in the Lino Air Park go tax forfeit. She noted that the
developer had spoken to her and indicated that he would be
redeeming the lots and then developing them. Mrs. Anderson also
recommended that the City Council allow the 1 /17th of the lot on
Reshanau Lake to go tax forfeit. There are still 15 other
interested land owners on this lot and their portion of the taxes
are paid. Council Member Bergeson suggested that the tax forfeit
portions of the lot be offered to other landowners on the golf
course.
Mrs. Anderson recommended that the City Council apply for title
to the lot in Sunset Oaks as it does contain a holding pond that
is important to the overall area drainage. She also recommended
that the City Council apply for title to the lot at the east end
of Oak Lane. The lot could be used for a vehicle turn - around.
Council Member Elliott moved to approve the recommendations of
the City Clerk. Council Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
Consideration of Janitorial Service for City Facilities - Mr.
Volk explained that early in 1992 the City opened two (2) new
buildings, the fire station and the police station. These new
buildings added an increased work load for the former part -time
janitor. It is important that the City Council address the issue
of hiring a full -time janitor or contract with a private
janitorial service.
Mr. Volk explained that he established a list of janitorial
duties necessary to maintain all three (3) facilities and
quotations were solicited from private contracting services.
Quotations were based on the duty list which correlates with what
is actually being completed by the part -time janitor now on
PAGE 13
1
1
1
