1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />COUNCIL MEETING AUGUST 24, 1992 <br />PLANNING AND ZONING REPORT <br />Amended Conditional Use Permit, Northern Instruments - Northern <br />Instruments, 6680 Hodgson Road is requesting a Conditional Use <br />Permit to construct a wood frame addition to their present storage <br />building. The property is zoned General Business and the storage <br />building addition would be permitted as a conditional use. <br />Staff, Police Chief Campbell, Fire Chief Bennett and the Planning <br />and Zoning Board have reviewed the request and have recommended <br />approval. Parking is adequate on the site and the proposed <br />addition would generate no need for additional parking. <br />Northern Instruments has submitted an application to Rice Creek <br />Watershed District for their review and comment. Council Member <br />Neal asked if this would be a pole building and was told no, it is <br />a wood frame building with metal siding. Mr. Brixius explained <br />that the staff is looking at preparing a definition of a pole <br />building and will bring the proposed definition back to the City <br />Council for approval. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to approve an amended conditional use <br />permit for Northern Instruments, 6680 Hodgson Road with the <br />following conditions: <br />1. Proper building permits be obtained prior to construction. <br />2. Exterior of proposed new construction match existing <br />buildings. <br />3. Proper setbacks be maintained from the existing shoreline of <br />Rice Lake. <br />4. Necessary permits be obtained from Rice Creek Watershed <br />District. <br />Council Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Site Plan Review, Buys Chiropractic, 7661 Lake Drive - Mr. Buy has <br />purchased a home at 7661 Lake Drive and is proposing to remodel the <br />home into a chiropractic office. The property is zoned General <br />Business (GB) and personal and professional offices are a permitted <br />use in this zoning district. The remodeling of the home into an <br />office will eliminate the existing non - conforming residential use <br />of the property. <br />The site plan allows for nine (9) parking spaces and one (1) <br />handicapped parking space.
