202
COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 14, 1993
The VFW has proposed to donate $8,000.00 for the purchase of two
(2) mobile data terminals to the Police Department. The City
approved one (1) terminal in its 1993 Budget and Anoka County is
providing a second terminal at no cost to the City. If approved
the VFW donation would give the City a total of four (4)
terminals.
Mr. Schumacher suggested that in the future, during the budget
process, the City Council draft a list of items that were cut
from the budget but are important for the operation of a
particular department. An organization wishing to donate to the
City could review the list and select an item or two that it
wishes to donate. Council Member Kuether noted that there may be
a problem if an organization has already selected an item to
donate. The City Council should honor that request.
Mayor Reinert said the organization donating to the City may look
favorably at a list. In addition, the list could help spread
donations more evenly and eliminate the need for individual
soliciting by staff. Mr. Schumacher said that by providing a
list of items deleted from the budget may help procure items that
are actually needed.
Council Member Kuether moved to approve Resolution No. 26 - 93
and accept the donation from the VFW with appreciation. Council
Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 26 - 93 can be found at the end of these minutes.
OLD BUSINESS
Consideration of Minutes, April 7, 1993 - Council Member Kuether
moved to approve these minutes as presented.
