1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />10'3 <br />COUNCIL MEETING SEPTEMBER 13, 1993 <br />behalf of the City Council and the citizens of Lino Lakes, Mayor <br />Reinert expressed pleasure to be able to present plaques to two <br />(2) "outstanding" employees who have served the City for 20 <br />years. He noted that both employees have worked in an <br />environment that has not always been good and related a story <br />about each employee. Mayor Reinert read both plaques and thanked <br />both Mr. Volk and Mr. Costa for their dedicated years of service <br />to the City. <br />CONSIDERATION OF NAMING A CHIEF OF POLICE <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that the Police Department has been <br />working without a Chief since December, 1992 and outlined the <br />search process used to select the candidate whom the City Council <br />felt would best suit Lino Lakes. Mr. David Pecchia will be <br />offered the position and Mr. Schumacher and Mr. Larry Thompson of <br />Public Management Consultants have been authorized to negotiate <br />an employment agreement with him. This agreement will be brought <br />to the next City Council meeting for formal approval. <br />Mr. Schumacher gave a brief background on Mr. Peechia and <br />explained that the City Council felt his background, education <br />and experience would best suit Lino Lakes. Mayor Reinert noted <br />that the selection process has been long and the interviews last <br />Saturday were also very long. He explained that the selection of <br />Mr. Peechia was unanimous. Mayor Reinert asked the Police <br />Department to give Mr. Peechia their full support and also asked <br />the other department heads to give Mr. Peechia their full <br />cooperation. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to offer the position of Chief of <br />Police to David Peechia and direct Mr. Schumacher and Mr. <br />Thompson to negotiate an employment agreement with him. Council <br />Member Elliott seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />PLANNING AND ZONING REPORT <br />Site Plan Review, Accu -Tool, Inc., Fourth Avenue - Mr. Wessel <br />presented the site plan for Accu -Tool. Mr. Joe Jungman, owner of <br />Accu -Tool has purchased the former Nickelson Plumbing Company <br />property adjacent to Apollo Business Park. There is an existing <br />3,000 square foot metal building on the property. Accu -Tool is a <br />precision machine manufacturing company presently located in <br />Forest Lake. They manufacture machine parts for companies such <br />as 3M. The growth of Accu -Tool necessitates an addition to the <br />existing building of 6,000 square feet. Mr. Wessel has been <br />working with Mr. Jungman and his architect, Craig Anderson to <br />improve the quality and character of the Accu -Tool expansion. <br />Mr. Wessel noted that the plan was reviewed by the Planning and <br />PAGE 2 <br />
