3, <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />be drafted. <br />DECEMBER 13, 1993 <br />Mr. Volk recommended that an ADA coordinator be appointed and a <br />compliance committee be authorized. The task of this committee <br />would be to draft a plan of action for the City Council to review <br />and adopt. The plan would enable the City to come into <br />compliance with the regulations of the ADA. If approved the <br />above mentioned funds would be used to prepare the draft of the <br />plan of action. <br />Mr. Volk further explained that the City will be required to <br />update all municipal buildings to meet the requirements of the <br />ADA by January 25, 1995. He noted that very few cities will be <br />able to meet this deadline. <br />Mayor Reinert asked if anyone in the audience wished to speak. <br />There was no one to speak on the matter. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to close the public hearing at 8:04 <br />P.M. Council Member Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to adopt Resolution No. 97 - 93. <br />Council Member Elliott seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTING AN AMERICAN DISABILITIES ACT (ADA) <br />COORDINATOR AND ESTABLISHING AN ADA COMPLIANCE COMMITTEE <br />Council Member Bergeson asked if Mr. Volk had a recommendation <br />regarding who the committee members should be or how the <br />committee should be established. Mr. Volk suggested that an <br />advertisement be placed in the local newspaper for citizen <br />members who are either handicapped or parents of handicapped <br />children. Council Member Bergeson asked if the ad would happen <br />in time to consider membership on the committee along with other <br />City appointments. Mr. Volk said no. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to appoint Becky Dvorak ADA <br />Coordinator and authorize establishment of an ADA compliance <br />committee. Council Member Elliott seconded the motion.
