1 <br />1 <br />COUNCIL MEETING JANUARY 8, 1996 <br />North Central Cable Communications Commission - Mr. Schumacher explained that <br />staff member Dan Tesch has been performing these duties for the past several years. <br />Council Member Neal moved to appoint Dan Tesch as the Lino Lakes representative on <br />the North Central Cable Communications Commission. Council Member Bergeson <br />seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Capital Building Committee Chairman - Council Member Neal moved to appoint <br />Council Member Bergeson as chairman. Council Member Kuether seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Centennial Fire Steering Committee - Mayor Landers recommended that Council <br />Member Neal and himself be appointed to this committee. Council Member Neal moved <br />to approve Mayor Landers recommendation. Council Member Lyden seconded the <br />motion. On a roll call vote, the motion carried with Council Member Bergeson and <br />Council Member Kuether voting no. <br />Liaisons - Mayor Landers recommended that Council Member Lyden be appointed the <br />Park and Recreation Department liaison. Council Member Neal moved to approve Mayor <br />Landers recommendation. There was no second to Council Member Neal's motion. <br />Council Member Kuether noted that she had not seen any previous written <br />recommendations regarding the appointment of liaisons. Mr. Schumacher explained that in <br />the Council packets was a list of departments who have had Council liaisons in the past. <br />This information was presented tonight so that the Council could discuss the issue of <br />appointing liaisons. Mayor Landers explained that he had talked to the Police <br />Department, Parks, Solid Waste and Public Works and all departments except for Public <br />Works wanted to continue with a liaison. Council Member Bergeson said at the last <br />Council work session, it was agreed that a report from all of these department regarding <br />an appointment of a department liaison was to be prepared and discussed at the next <br />Council work session. <br />Mayor Landers said that this matter would be tabled until the next Council work session. <br />CONSIDERATION OF AUTHORIZING STAFF TO ADVERTISE FOR VACANT <br />BOARD POSITIONS <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that he has included a listing of Board vacancies in the Council <br />packets. Normally, vacancies are advertised in the legal newspaper and notices are placed <br />on the City's government cable channel 16 and in the winter newsletter. Mr. Schumacher <br />noted where each vacancy exists. <br />After the deadline for submitting applications for the vacant positions, the City Council <br />interviews each candidate. A date for the interviews should be established this evening. <br />After further discussion, it was decided to advertise the vacant positions in the January 16, <br />1996 legal newspaper and place the advertisement in the winter newsletter and on Cable <br />TV. The deadline for receiving applications will be January 31, 1996 and the City Council <br />will interview all candidates at the first work session in February. <br />PAGE 3 <br />
