CITY COUNCIL MEETING <br />DISBURSEMENTS: <br />July 29, 1994 <br />August 8, 1994 <br />Centennial Fire Department <br />REGULAR AGENDA <br />OPEN MIKE <br />AUGUST 8, 1994 <br />Approved <br />Approved <br />Approved <br />Presentation of Plaques to Citizens Who Helped with Toys for Joys <br />(A Non -Profit Organization) Last Christmas - Council Member Neal <br />explained that a number of citizens from the cities of Lino <br />Lakes, Centerville, Circle Pines, Lexington and Columbus Township <br />helped distribute toys and other gifts for Christmas, 1993. As <br />appreciation for their volunteer help, Council Member Neal <br />presented plaques to Mr. Al Weise, President of the Lino Lakes <br />Lion's Club, Robert Chilson, Sheriff Ken Wilkinson, Bill Hammes, <br />Wilma Dohrer, Bill Michaels, Jeanne Kenow, and Ray Johnson. Mr. <br />Johnson accepted his plaque on behalf of the Lino Lakes Lion's <br />Club and noted that their motto is "we serve". The City Council <br />thanked all those who helped to make this program a success. <br />Presentation of Certifications of Appreciation to Three (3) City <br />Employee's - Police Chief Pecchia presented certificates of <br />appreciation to Jeff Bennett, Justin Wagner and Tom Jackson for <br />their assistance in apprehending suspects involved in committing <br />a crime. Chief Pecchia explained that the three (3) employees <br />observed suspicious activity and reported the activity to the <br />Police Department via their car phones. He thanked them for <br />their involvement in community policing. <br />Sheriff Ken Wilkinson, Maintaining Communications Between the <br />Sheriff's Department and the City of Lino Lakes - Chief Pecchia <br />explained that in the nine (9) months that he has been employed <br />by the City, several crimes have occurred that required the <br />assistance of the Sheriff's Department. He received a quick and <br />thorough response to his requests. In addition, a Lino Lakes <br />Police Officer has been trained by the Sheriff's Department to be <br />an investigator and the Lino Lakes Police Department has been <br />able to utilize the Sheriff's Department for field training. <br />Chief Pecchia introduced Sheriff Wilkinson and on behalf of the <br />Lino Lakes Police Department thanked him for his help. <br />Sheriff Wilkinson explained that the major focus of his <br />department is to work well with all local police departments in <br />Anoka County. He said that he has an excellent relationship with <br />the Lino Lakes Police Department and felt that the City Council <br />should be proud of the work of Chief Pecchia and his department. <br />PAGE 2 <br />1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />
