15: <br />COUNCIL MEETING FEBRUARY 13, 1995 <br />CONSIDERATION OF ANNUAL APPOINTMENTS, RANDY SCHUMACHER <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that on February 8, 1995, the Lino Lakes <br />City Council interviewed candidates for three (3) vacancies on <br />the Planning and Zoning Board and two (2) vacancies on the Park <br />Board. A checklist was prepared which allowed the Council to <br />rank candidates using education, occupation, general experience <br />and volunteer history as criteria. <br />After the interviews were conducted, the City Council ranked the <br />applicants for both the Park Board and the Planning and Zoning <br />Board. There were three (3) individuals considered for the two <br />(2) open positions on the Park Board. The two (2) top ranked <br />candidates were Betty Piper and Sharon Lange. There were eight <br />(8) individuals considered for the three (3) open Planning and <br />Zoning Board positions. The three (3) top ranked candidates were <br />Rick Gelbman, William Johnson and Guy Herr. Mr. Schumacher <br />recommended that the City Council take action on this matter. <br />Council Member Elliott moved to appoint Betty Piper and Sharon <br />Lange to the Park Board for a three (3) year term. Council <br />Member Bergeson seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to appoint Rick Gelbman, William <br />Johnson and Guy Herr to the Planning and Zoning Board for a three <br />(3) year term. Council Member Elliott seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Legal Newspaper - It was noted that the City Council temporary <br />appointed the Quad Press as the legal newspaper for the City. <br />Applications have been received -from the Forest Lake Times, the <br />Spring Lake Park Life and Press Publications (Quad Press). <br />Council Member Elliott moved to approve the Quad Press as the <br />legal newspaper for 1995. Council Member Kuether seconded the <br />motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Council Member Neal said he had read that if there is any problem <br />regarding distribution of the Quad Press that Gene Johnson should <br />be contacted. Ms. Michelle Larson, Press Publications told the <br />Council that the public could also contact her. Council Member <br />Neal noted that there have been problems with distribution in the <br />past. <br />Charter Commission - All vacancies are appointed by an Anoka <br />County Judge. <br />Centennial Fire Steering Committee - Council Member Elliott moved <br />to re -appoint Council Member Neal to this committee. Council <br />Member Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />PAGE 38 <br />
