1 <br />1 <br />1 <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />COUNCIL MINUTES <br />cb)/,;- - <br />MARCH 27, 1995 <br />DATE <br />TIME STARTED <br />TIME ..ENDED ..> <br />MEMBERS PRESENT: <br />MEMBERS ABSENT :> <br />• <br />• <br />Marah 27, 1995;: <br />6:30 P.14. <br />8::30 P.M. <br />Reinert, <br />None <br />eal, Kuether, Elliott,>Bergeson <br />Staff members present: Acting City Attorney, Barry Sullivan; <br />Acting City Engineer, John Powell; Consulting Planner, Alan <br />Brixius; Planning Coordinator, Mary Kay Wyland; Parks and <br />Recreation Director, Marty Asleson; Sergeant Bill Hammes; <br />Community Development Director, Brian Wessel; City Administrator, <br />Randy Schumacher and Clerk -Treasurer Marilyn Anderson. <br />PRESENTATION OF PLAQUE TO THE CIRCLE -LEX VFW, POST #6583 AND THE <br />CIRCLE -LEX VFW POST #6583 LADIES AUXILIARY FOR THEIR CONTRIBUTION <br />TO THE CITY OF LINO LAKES IN SUPPORT OF THE PARKS AND RECREATION <br />DEPARTMENT AND THE POLICE DEPARTMENT <br />Mayor Reinert explained that the VFW Club and the Ladies <br />Auxiliary have contributed a tremendous amount of money to the <br />City to support programs that benefit all Lino Lakes citizens. <br />He read the plaque and expressed his gratitude for the more than <br />$200,000.00 that these two (2) organizations have contributed to <br />the City over the past years. <br />Mr. Lyle Carpenter, Commander of the VFW Club accepted the plaque <br />on behalf of the 325 members of the VFW Club and the Ladies <br />Auxiliary. He introduced several members of the VFW Club and <br />explained that they were in uniform this evening because they <br />will be providing services at a funeral tonight. He briefly <br />explained some of the activities performed by the VFW Club. <br />Mr. Carpenter explained that Loyalty Day is April 29, 1995. He <br />noted that there is evidence that young people today do not know <br />what loyalty to our country and our flag means. He also noted <br />that children are not aware of what so many citizens of this <br />country have given to this world and have received little <br />recognition for their services. <br />PAGE 1 <br />
