The method ers for the boards and committees
caused a great deal of concern .a an .ccounting error when the Council
voted on the candidates.
The Council has us s m. `er at several Council work sessions. The discussions
centered around d omplete the appointment process with every Council
Member using the - ethod of selection. The process that was used earlier this year
rated each candidby a point system. Some Council Members felt that this method did
not allow for "freshness", open mindedness, and education from the school of "hard
knocks".
The Council held another lengthily discussion on this matter and decided to use another
method of selecting Planning and Zoning Board members, a Circle Pines Gas Utility
representative and the Parks and Playground board members. The process to be used
includes the use of a white paper ballot containing the names of all the candidates. Each
Council Member would vote for three (3)candidates for the Planning and Zoning Board.
The three (3) candidates with the most votes would be appointed to the three (3) open
positions. Since there were two (2) candidates for the one open position on the Circle
Pines Gas Utility Commission, the person with the most votes would be appointed to that
position. Since there were three (3) open positions on the Parks and Playgrounds Board
and there were three (3) candidates, all three (3) of the candidates would be appointed to
that board.
PAGE 5
