CITY COUNCIL MEETING JULY 22, 1996
Mr. Schumacher asked if the City controls the necessary right-of-way for upgrading Ware
Road. Mr. Ahrens said he did not know but could get the information for the City
Council.
Council Member Bergeson asked Mr. Ahrens to prepare a report outlining some options
for upgrading Ware Road and have the report ready for the next Council meeting.
Mr. Ahrens explained that his immediate concern is how the contractor will leave Ware
Road and for how long.
CONSIDERATION OF A LABOR CONTRACT, LOCAL #320, RANDY
SCHUMACHER
Mr. Schumacher explained that the Lino Lakes Police Department is represented by
Teamsters Local #320. Their contract expired January 1, 1996. The City has been
negotiating a new proposal since September, 1995. The proposed agreement impacts the
contract in the following areas:
1. Three (3) year contract extending through 1998.
2. A six (6) dollar payment towards the Dental Plan.
3. A three (3) year average salary increase of 2.93%.
4. A five (5) dollar increase in clothing allowance per year with expenditure
restrictions.
Mr. Schumacher said that the balance of the issues in the proposal fall under the
Personnel Policy and are not considered new issues. He said he felt that this was a fair
proposal for the employees and the City. If approved, this contract period begins January
1, 1996 so there will be back pay for the Police Officers.
Council Member Kuether moved to approve the Teamster Labor Contract as outlined by
Mr. Schumacher. Council Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried
unanimously.
OLD BUSINESS
There was no old business.
NEW.
