COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 9,1996 <br />DATE <br />TIME STARTED <br />TIME ENDED <br />MEMBERS PRESEN' <br />MEMBERS ABSENT <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />: September 9, 1996 <br />. 6:30 P.M. <br />. 10:03 P.1VM. <br />: Bergeson, Kuether, Landers, Lyden, Neal <br />: None. <br />Staff present: City Administrator, Randy Schumacher; City Attorney, Bill Hawkins; Community <br />Development Director, Brian Wessel; City Engineer, David Ahrens; Finance Director, Mary <br />Vaske; and Clerk -Treasurer, Marilyn Anderson. <br />The following additions were proposed to the agenda: Mayor Landers requested the addition of <br />an update on the joint meeting with Dunn & Montain and the Charter Commission, as well as <br />consideration of a proposed block party under New Business. <br />Council Member Kuether requested the addition of Lino Lakes Survey prior to Open Mike. <br />Council Member Neal raised a question about an item on the disbursements proposed for <br />approval, specifically government buildings, $1776. Mary Vaske agreed to provide detailed <br />information in explanation of this item. <br />The agenda was approved as amended. <br />CONSENT AGENDA <br />Consideration of the Consent Agenda was delayed for additional information and can be found <br />later in these minutes. <br />LINO LAKES SURVEY <br />Council Member Kuether indicated that she received a telephone call from a Lino Lakes taxpayer <br />who expressed a positive reaction to the survey in general, but concern about difficulty <br />understanding the person asking the survey questions. She asked that Mr. Schumacher contact <br />the organization conducting the survey to request investigation into this situation to guarantee <br />that those making contact with survey participants are able to communicate clearly. <br />OPEN MIKE <br />Susan Miles, candidate for 10th District Judge, introduced herself to Council stating that there <br />are currently 12 attorneys running for 10th District Judge to be chambered in Stillwater. She <br />indicated the importance of voter turnout and asked for Council support and endorsement for the <br />primary election to be held on September 10, 1996. The primary election will result in selection <br />of two individuals whose names will appear on the November ballot, affording the rare <br />opportunity to elect a judge who is not running against an incumbent. Ms. Miles reviewed her <br />qualifications, including 18 years in law practice. <br />1 <br />
