COUNCIL MINUTES SEPTEMBER 23, 1996 <br />Ms. Lease added that subdivision was not an option, as it would not be profitable. Mr. Lease <br />added that costs involved in subdivision would result in undue financial hardship. <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPOINTING A MAYOR'S COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD <br />COMMITTEE, FRAN KURK AND MAYOR LANDERS <br />Ms. Kurk wrote to Mayor Landers suggesting development of a Mayor's Community Service <br />Award for City Staff and volunteers, and that a committee be formed to nominate prospective <br />recipients of the award. Council has reviewed Ms. Kurk's proposal. The following individuals <br />have been recommended to the proposed committee: <br />Al Wiese <br />Officer Jeannie Kenow <br />Connie Bauman <br />Dr. Neal Benjamin <br />Fran Kurk <br />As Ms. Kurk was not present to speak, Mayor Landers asked if there were any questions from <br />Council regarding appointment of this committee. <br />There being no questions, Council Member Neal moved to approve appointment of a Mayor's <br />Community Service Award committee. Council Member Lyden seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />CONSIDERATION OF RESOLUTION NO. 96 -130 AMENDING THE 1996 GENERAL <br />FUND BUDGET, MARY VASKE <br />Ms. Vaske explained that the 1996 Budget included a contingency account that now has a <br />balance of $80,620. There were requests for equipment purchases in the 1997 budget that could <br />be accomplished this year with the balance of the contingency account fund. This equipment <br />included a mini van for the Economic Development group at a cost of $19,500; a Ford tractor for <br />the Parks Department for $22,460, and a 4x4 truck with a v -plow for $24,700. A balance of <br />$13,960 would remain in the contingency account following these purchases. <br />Council Member Kuether asked why the $87,000 was originally reserved. Mr. Schumacher <br />explained that this reserve fund had no specific designation. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to adopt Resolution No. 96 - 130, as presented. Council <br />Member Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 96 - 130 can be found at the end of these minutes. <br />4 <br />
