• <br />• <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION OCTOBER 9, 1996 <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />MINUTES <br />DATE October 9, 1996 <br />TIME STARTED 5:00 p.m. <br />TIME ENDED 6:30 p.m. <br />MEMBERS PRESENT Council Member Bergeson, Kuether, Lyden <br />and Mayor Landers <br />MEMBERS ABSENT Council Member Neal <br />Staff members present: Finance Director, Mary Vaske; Building Official, Peter Kluegel; <br />Community Development Director, Brian Wessel; Planning Coordinator, Mary Kay <br />Wyland; Solid Waste Coordinator, Jackie Constant; Public Works Superintendent, Tom <br />DeWolfe and Clerk -Treasurer Marilyn Anderson. <br />Mr. Wessel presented the following development calendar: <br />October 14, 1996, 4:30 p.m., ground breaking for EAM in t o ess Park <br />October 22, 1996, 9:00 a.m., ground breaking for the Me e ' al Clinic in the <br />Apollo Business Park <br />October 28, 1996, 6:00 p.m. The Lino Lakes development Authority will <br />have its organiza . An agenda will be prepared <br />for this <br />Mr. Wessel explained that the ng'for these two (2) businesses is the <br />culmination of approxima d a alf of work. Six (6) other businesses are <br />committed to break gro y <br />SUMMARY OF <br />STE HAULERS PROPOSAL, JACKIE CONSTANT <br />The City Council ads ted four (4) goals that will support the ordinance establishing a <br />solid waste collection program. A speaker was present this evening to present the hailer's <br />views on solid waste collection. <br />Tom Workman - Mr. Workman works with Denny at Ace Solid Waste. He presented <br />written material for the Council to review. Mr. Workmen responded to each of the four <br />(4) goals adopted by the Council. <br />Mr. Workman presented another handout, which outlined areas where the haulers can <br />make solid waste removal easier and avoid organized hauling. He noted that organized <br />hauling eliminates the incentive for the haulers to maintain their equipment. Mr. <br />Workman explained the City of Chanhassen adopted a solid waste removal system and <br />now the hauler rates are higher than if they had remained independent. Mr. Workman <br />asked Council if residents would have a choice if they did not like their current hauler. <br />PAGE 1 <br />
