• <br />• <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION AUGUST 6,1997 <br />The County Commissions have expressed concern that residents of Anoka County be <br />aware of this new program. Therefore, various groups within the City have been informed <br />about this project and have been working with both Chief Bennett and Chief Pecchia. <br />Staff will be asking for Council approval to become part of the communications system <br />by 2003. <br />It is anticipated that radio "traffic" will increase by 71% by 2003. It is also anticipated <br />that each law agency will have to buy/lease new radios from the County. It is estimated <br />that it will cost the Fire District approximately $12,000 to replace their current radios. <br />Chief Bennett and Chief Pecchia will keep the Council informed of all developments on <br />this matter as they occur. <br />Chief Bennett noted that National Night Out was a very positive event. <br />CONSIDERATION OF LIQUOR LICENSE, BLAINE LEGION C UBS <br />MARILYN ANDERSON <br />The Legion is proposing to purchase a building near Lilac 4t '" 3"nue. This is <br />the Legion's second attempt to relocate their facility <br />Staff had expressed concern regarding the sri loc d a ss the street from this site. <br />There are classrooms within the pris • � °�_ ofs' concerned that the City Liquor <br />Ordinance would also deem thi i or a liquor license. <br />Staff was directed to cy Attorney and determine if this site can be issued a <br />liquor license. <br />This matter is on st 1 lth. regular Council agenda. <br />REGULAR AGENDA <br />Council did not have any further questions on the regular agenda. <br />Council Member Lyden presented an analysis of Don Salverda's program held in 1996 <br />and noted that a Climate Improvement Survey was conducted prior to this program. The <br />survey indicated that morale at city hall needed to be improved. <br />Council Member Lyden suggested that the "head coach" be directed to turn this around. <br />Several Council Members felt that the Council was the "head of the totem pole" and they <br />should attempt to address this issue. The Council also took issue with some of Council <br />Lyden's presentation. <br />Council directed staff to schedule a meeting with Mr. Salverda as soon as possible. <br />PAGE 3 <br />
