• <br />SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING NOVEMBER 18, 1997 <br />Council Member Bergeson noted that the payments on the bonds for these buildings <br />would be approximately $87,000 for every million dollars that are bonded. He noted that <br />this is not in the budget. Staff explained that the payment would be approximately <br />$250,000 which would be added to the bonded debt payment in the tax levy. <br />Staff proposed the following budget for the new civic buildings: <br />- Centennial Early Childhood Center $1,200,000 <br />- City Hall and Police Department buildings $5,800,000 (divided equally) <br />Staff was asked if this would include furnishings? Staff explained that this will not be <br />know until the design is further along. <br />Council asked if other cities are constructing jails? Chief Pecchia explained that jails are <br />very expensive to build and staff. <br />Council Member Bergeson suggested that the budget include $6,000,000 for the City Hall <br />and the Police Department building. The space should be approxim ame for <br />each building.
