• • • COUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 10, 1997 several potential sites and would like to work with the owners to determine if they would be willing sellers. Since development has slowed considerably resulting in less developer contributions to the Dedicated Park Fund, the Park Board is looking at a referendum to raise the $4,000,000 to $6,000,000 needed to purchase the land and construct the improvements. Staff explained that the City could also be looking at a bond referendum to fund the City's portion of the YMCA. However, the YMCA project will not be ready for a year or more. Staff expressed concern about how the public would react to such a large bond referendum for these two (2) facilities. After further discussion, Council decided to authorize the Park Board to start the preparation for a bond referendum since it is likely that it would not be on an election ballot before the YMCA referendum. Council also asked to be kept updated on this matter. CONSIDERATIO ONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT COMPANY FOR PUBLIC FACILIT , BRIAN WESSEL Staff discussed this matter with the Council at the last work session. Proposals for a construction management company had been solicited. Adolphson and Peterson (A & P) submitted the most suitable proposal. Staff has met with the City Attorney and representatives from A & P and have reached a tentative contract. This contract will be brought to the Council for consideration on December 15th.
