• <br />• <br />• <br />COUNCIL WORK SESSION DECEMBER 10, 1997 <br />several potential sites and would like to work with the owners to determine if they would <br />be willing sellers. <br />Since development has slowed considerably resulting in less developer contributions to <br />the Dedicated Park Fund, the Park Board is looking at a referendum to raise the <br />$4,000,000 to $6,000,000 needed to purchase the land and construct the improvements. <br />Staff explained that the City could also be looking at a bond referendum to fund the <br />City's portion of the YMCA. However, the YMCA project will not be ready for a year or <br />more. Staff expressed concern about how the public would react to such a large bond <br />referendum for these two (2) facilities. <br />After further discussion, Council decided to authorize the Park Board to start the <br />preparation for a bond referendum since it is likely that it would not be on an election <br />ballot before the YMCA referendum. Proposals for a <br />construction management company had been solicited. Adolphson and Peterson (A & P) <br />submitted the most suitable proposal. <br />Staff has met with the City Attorney and representatives from A & P and have reached a <br />tentative contract.
