COUNCIL MINUTES NOVEMBER 25, 1996 <br />was completed on the top five candidates, the interview committee recommended Ms. Carri <br />Villella for the position of City Hall receptionist. Her starting date would be December 12, 1996, <br />and would be considered probationary for six months. Ms. Villella would start at Step I of the <br />pay plan for that position. <br />Staff recommended that Ms. Villella be hired effective December 12, 1996. <br />Council Member Bergeson asked if this individual is the same one currently occupying that <br />position on a temporary basis. Mr. Schumacher responded yes. <br />Council Member Neal asked if there is presently an eligibility list. Mr. Schumacher explained <br />that a list of the top four remaining candidates would be retained for use in the event there is an <br />issue with Ms. Villella. <br />Mayor Landers asked if a portion of the probationary period could be waived since Ms. Villella <br />has occupied the position for some time on a temporary basis. Mr. Schumacher indicated that <br />Ms. Villella has thus far been employed on a contract basis and that, according to personnel <br />policy, she must be employed by the City for the full six months in order to satisfy the <br />probationary requirement. <br />Council Member Neal moved to hire Carri Villella as the receptionist starting December 12, <br />1996. Council Member Bergeson seconded the motion. <br />Council Member Bergeson asked why the offer would be effective December 16, 1996. Mr. <br />Schumacher explained that Ms. Villella needs the interim in which to provide notice to her <br />current employer. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Christmas Lights Contest, Council Member Neal - Council Member Neal requested that Lino <br />Lakes have a Christmas lights contest with the Park Department arrange for judging with first, <br />second and third prizes totaling $100. <br />Council Member Bergeson asked if the Park Department would recommend approval of such an <br />activity. Council Member Neal responded yes, and that the Park Department would present a <br />formal proposal at a subsequent Council meeting. <br />Mayor Landers expressed concern about fire issues. <br />Disbursements - Mayor Landers asked for questions regarding the disbursements represented by <br />checks 46072 through 46178, totaling $241,865.67. <br />Council Member Neal questioned a bill for $12,437.19 for a special investigator and lawyer to <br />investigate the City.
