Council Member
Kuether seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 96 - 154 can be found at the end of these minutes.
Consider Resolution No. 96 - 155, Concurring with Anoka County Designation of
County State Aid Highway, Highway 49, Ash Street to Fourth Avenue - Mr. Ahrens
explained that recently the Anoka County Board accepted Trunk Highway 49 (from Ash
Street to the intersection of Lilac and Fourth Avenue) from the State and designated the
road as a County State Aid Highway (CSAH). The portion of Highway 49 from Ash
Street to the new interchange at Lake Drive and Highway 49 will be designated as
(CSAH) No. 49 and the section of highway from the new interchange to Lilac Street and
Lake Drive will be designated as (CSAH) No. 23. The roadway from Lilac Street and
Lake Drive west to Lilac Street and Fourth Avenue will be designated as CSAH No. 153.
(This action will result in designating all of Lilac Street from Lake Drive to Sunset Road
as CSAH No. 153) A supporting resolution from the City of Lino Lakes is required to
designate Trunk Highway 49 as a County State Aid Highway.
Council Member Kuether noted that a portion of Lilac Street west of Fourth Avenue is
designated County Road No. 153. She asked if this is a new designation. Mr. Ahrens
explained that currently the portion of Lilac Street from Fourth Avenue to Sunset Road is
designated as a County Road No. 153. The changes in designation will allow the County
to designate the mileage over their normal CSAH cap.
Council Member Kuether asked when a sign will be placed on Lake Drive directing
traffic to Apollo Drive. Mr. Ahrens said that he has directed Mr. DeWolfe to get this sign
in place.
Council Member Bergeson asked Mr. Ahrens what the difference is between MSA and
CSAH. Mr. Ahrens explained that gas tax money designated as state aid goes into one
big "pot". The State divides the dollars into various "pots". One "pot" is for
municipalities (MSA) over 5,000 in populations and another "pot" is for counties
(CSAH). The CSAH funds can be used for road reconstruction rather than taking the
reconstruction dollars out of tax dollars.
Council Member Kuether moved to adopt Resolution No. 96 - 155. Council Member
Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resolution No. 96 - 155 can be found at the end of these minutes.
OLD BUSINESS
PAGE 3
