COUNCIL MINUTES FEBRUARY 24, 1997 <br />COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT REPORT, BRIAN WESSEL <br />First Reading, Ordinance No. 04 - 97, Offering Sale of Properties in the Apollo Business <br />Park - Mr. Wessel reported the proposed ordinance is required for the sale of two properties in <br />the City -owned portion of the Apollo Business Park to Fogerty Investments who plans to <br />purchase one 5.5 -acre property and one 1.63 -acre property for a total of 7.13 acres. Mr. Wessel <br />explained that Mr. Fogerty plans to phase the construction of 82,000 square feet of leasable <br />office/manufacturing space on the two (2) parcels. The price of the land is $39,000 per acre for a <br />total of $278,070. Mr. Wessel advised this completes the sale of City -owned land in the Apollo <br />Business Park. <br />Council Member Kuether requested staff provide a report on the total amount of profit from this <br />project. <br />Council Member Kuether moved to approve first reading of Ordinance No. 04 - 97. Council <br />Member Neal seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />There was no old business. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Consideration of an Application for Authorization for an Exemption from Lawful <br />Gambling License, St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Marilyn Anderson - Ms. Anderson <br />explained that non-profit organizations are allowed under the State Gambling Statutes to apply <br />for an exemption from a gambling license if they conduct fewer than five gambling occasions per <br />year. The St. Joseph's Catholic Church conducts three gambling occasions each year: the annual <br />August Festival, one date near Thanksgiving, and the regular Easter event. Ms. Anderson <br />explained the money raised during the Easter event helps pay for food baskets for the needy. She <br />recommended approval of the requested exemption. <br />Council Member Neal moved to approve an exemption from the Lawful Gambling License for <br />St. Joseph's Catholic Church based on the rationale that they conduct fewer than five gambling <br />occasions per year. Council Member Lyden seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Board of Review Set for Monday, April 21, 1997, 6:30 P.M. - Mayor Pro Tem Bergeson noted <br />the Board of Review has been scheduled for Monday, April 21, 1997, starting at 6:30 P.M. <br />Mr. Schumacher advised the Board of Review is held in conjunction with Anoka County.
